Can't wait for the Sony HDR-TD10 Handycam 3D Camcorder - another giant step ahead for Sony. Sony just announced the HDR-TD10 Handycam, the world's first "Double Full HD" 3D consumer camcorder. The camcorder employs an integrated dual lens system, which includes two of each key component - double Sony G Lenses, double "Exmor R" CMOS image sensors, and double BIONZ image processors. The dual recording system allows 3D content to be recorded in 1920x1080 Full HD resolution and viewed with 3D active glasses on 3D-capable HDTVs or in Full HD 2D on non-3D displays. All 3D footage can also be played back without glasses on the camcorder's 3.5-inch Xtra Fine LCD 3D touch screen. This is a good start for sony in thier 3D line of Handycams, although I don't think it will be necessary. This is a Roland TD 10 without the TDW-1 expansion card. The card adds a lot of cymbal functionality, hihat functionality, midi upgrade functionality, 50 additional user save-able presets and other great stuff but... I don't have it. But that's okay. The double kick is a Tama Iron Cobra with a Rolling Glide cam, the throne is a Roc'n'Soc and the sticks are, of course, PRO MARK. I typically use wood tip 2b oak sticks but these are slightly smaller - 5b sticks, because I don't want to destroy the mesh heads and the rim triggers. I'm using the model '7' kick with my beaters very close together, facing down. I'll try and get a louder amp later for you to hear me play - for now... this will do.

I have been using TD10, Sony's first 3D handycam for about 2 months. Basically I love this small base 3D video camera very much, especially autostereoscopic monitor and active stabilizer etc., however there are some unsatisfactory specifications and behaviors for me such as; 1) no manual control in 3D video shooting 2) lack of convergence control at near range when zooming This model has the stereobase of 31mm, which is very much suitable for 3D macro and indoor video shooting. But, the minimum working distance of 3D shooting at the tele-end of zooming (x10, f=344mm) is 7m, not 7cm! There is manual depth adjustment capability, however the range is very limited. This is the specification of this video camera! This situation is explained in the figures derived from my experiment as follows; v-galleries.com v-galleries.com Test video is shown here; www.youtube.com I speculate the reason is that small image sensors used do not allow to translate enough horizontal shift which is required for shooting near subjects in the parallel (not toe-in) configuration of two optical systems. In order to shoot 3D macro of near subjects, use of close up lenses, a kind of converger is effective even at the full zooming condition although far subjects lose focused at all. I am using No05(2m), No.1(1m) and No.2(0.5m) close up lenses with TD10 very conveniently. v-galleries.com I think Fuji W3 is well designed as for the convergence control where the R/L images converge to the focused point at <b>...</b>

You can see true resolution of Sony HDR-TD10 in stereoscopic mode. It is like a 600 lines. Sony HDR-TD10 pack 2x1080i video streams by H.264 MVC in MTS container, and i just demux master stream and upload it to youtube. Sony HDR-TD10 has parallax barrier display and when i shoot this video i see resolution of display like 200 lines in 3d mode.
