Truman Warns Japs To Give Up 1945/06/07

"In a speech to Congress, President states that Japan faces the same complete destruction that was visited upon Germany. To that end, millions of troops, and their implements of war, are being transferred more than half way around the earth. The President adds that though many key industries have already been leveled by US air attack, all of Japan's industries will be completely destroyed unless Japan surrenders." (partial newsreel)

Truman Capote's "The Thanksgiving Visitor" (1967) 1/5

Truman Capote's "The Thanksgiving Visitor" was originally published in the November 1967 issue of McCall's, then in book form, then produced for television -- all within the same month. (How'd he manage that?) Written 11 years after "A Christmas Memory," Capote returns to the Monroeville of his childhood. Like "A Christmas Memory," we see Buddy's deeply intimate relationship with his dear Sook. Unlike "A Christmas Memory," we see the dark torment of Capote's youth. Starring Geraldine Page as Sook (she won an Emmy for her performance) and Michael Kearney as Buddy. Adapted for television by Capote (who also narrates) and Eleanor Perry. Directed by Frank Perry. Here's a link to some user reviews on IMDB: www.imdb.com **Any & all blame for the imperfect video/audio quality lies at the feet of the person who ripped it from the original VHS (ie, not me). My apologies, just the same.**

Harry S. Truman: President of the United States - Color Footage (Part 1)

Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Harry S. Truman www.amazon.com (May 8, 1884 - December 26, 1972) was the 33rd President of the United States (1945-1953). As President Franklin D. Roosevelt's third vice-president and the 34th Vice President of the United States, he succeeded to the presidency on April 12, 1945, when President Roosevelt died less than three months after beginning his fourth term. During World War I, Truman served as an artillery officer, making him the only president to have seen combat in World War I (his successor Eisenhower spent the war training tank crews in Pennsylvania). After the war he became part of the political machine of Tom Pendergast and was elected a county commissioner in Missouri and eventually a Democratic United States senator. After he gained national prominence as head of the wartime Truman Committee, Truman replaced vice president Henry A. Wallace as Roosevelt's running mate in 1944. Truman faced challenge after challenge in domestic affairs. The disorderly postwar reconversion of the economy of the United States was marked by severe shortages, numerous strikes, and the passage of the TaftHartley Act over his veto. He confounded all predictions to win re-election in 1948, helped by his famous Whistle Stop Tour of rural America. After his re-election he was able to pass only one of the proposals in his Fair Deal program. He used executive orders to begin desegregation of the military and to create loyalty checks which ...

Philip Glass - Truman Sleeps

Philip Morris Glass (born January 31, 1937) is an American music composer. He is considered one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century and is widely acknowledged as a composer who has brought art music to the public (along with precursors such as Richard Strauss, Kurt Weill and Leonard Bernstein). Although his music is often, though controversially, described as minimalist, he distances himself from this label, describing himself instead as a composer of "music with repetitive structures. Although his early, mature music is minimalist, he has evolved stylistically. Currently, he describes himself as a "Classicist", pointing out that he is trained in harmony and counterpoint and studied Franz Schubert, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with Nadia Boulanger. Glass is a prolific composer: He has written works for his own musical group which he founded, the Philip Glass Ensemble (for which he still performs on keyboards), as well as operas, musical theatre works, eight symphonies, eight concertos, solo works, string quartets, and film scores. Three of his film scores have been nominated for Academy Awards.

This song is hard to find it on the net so I've posted it (Soundtrack Jeremiah) Performed by Paul Van These lyrics I've made myself so please correct me if I wrote them wrong Lyrics: I can't let go, I'm holding hope so tight It's hard to breathe when the whole world falls Sun's right in my eyes, still feels like night A thousand time a day i hear you call I saw the stars just glow out and fall from the skyes Falling all around me, my heart cryes I belive we'll find a world together Trough your eyes, it's all iI can see I belive we're looking at forever In a world where we can be free It's all so quiet, the whole world still Waiting for us to find our way We must humble but I know we will Wake up to breathe that brand new day I'm gonna pull the stars back, back up in the skye Let them all just shine down, I'm gonna try I belive we'll find a world together Trough your eyes, it's all iI can see I belive we're looking at forever In a world where we can be free I'm gonna raise up my hands and open my heart I'm gonna lift up my sail and I'm gonna start Finding my own way to a new world I belive we'll find a world together Trough your eyes, it's all I can see I belive we're looking at forever In a world where we can be free I belive we're looking at forever It's all I can see I belive we'll find a world together where we can be free

Journal TV - Almanac Newsreels - Truman, Churchill and Stalin at Potsdam, Frogman Crabb missing, USA rationing stopped

The Potsdam Conference was held at Cecilienhof, the home of Crown Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern, in Potsdam, occupied Germany, from 16 July to 2 August 1945. Participants were the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The three nations were represented by Communist Party General Secretary Joseph Stalin, Prime Ministers Winston Churchill and, later, Clement Attlee, and President Harry S. Truman. Stalin, Churchill, and Truman — as well as Attlee, who participated alongside Churchill while awaiting the outcome of the 1945 general election, and then replaced Churchill as Prime Minister after the Labour Party's victory over the Conservatives — gathered to decide how to administer punishment to the defeated Nazi Germany, which had agreed to unconditional surrender nine weeks earlier, on May 8 (VE Day). A collection of over 200 historical newsreels. Each newsreel runs approximately 3 minutes and covers the most important events of the first half of the 20th century.
