The Fleetwoods - He's The Great Imposter

Although the Fleetwoods' sound was smooth, without many of the rougher edges of doo wop groups, they were one of the few white vocal groups of the late '50s and early '60s to enjoy success not only on the pop charts, but also the R&B charts. The Fleetwoods' forte was ballads -- beginning with their 1959 debut single, "Come Softly to Me," the group racked up a number of hits over the next three years, and nearly all of them were ballads. The group broke up in 1963, but their songs -- particularly "Come Softly to Me" -- became pop-rock classics of the pre-British Invasion era. Gretchen Christopher, Barbara Ellis, and Gary Troxell formed the Fleetwoods while attending high school in Olympia, WA. Originally, the group consisted only of Christopher and Ellis, but the duo soon asked Troxell to accompany them on trumpet. Shortly after his arrival in the group, Troxell abandoned the trumpet and concentrated on singing once the other two members heard a portion of a song he had written. Following some contributions from Christopher and Ellis, the group had written "Come Softly to Me." They began performing the song at various events around Olympia, eventually gaining the attention of Bob Reisdorff, who ran the Seattle-based label, Dolphin Records. Dolphin released "Come Softly to Me" early in 1959 and the song became an instant hit, climbing to number one on the pop charts and number five on the R&B charts; it also reached the Top Ten in UK The Fleetwoods weren't able to ...

The Great imposter trailer (Tony Curtis)

The Great Impostor is a 1961 movie based on the true story of an impostor named Ferdinand Waldo Demara. Loosely based on Robert Crichton's 1959 biography of the same name, it stars Tony Curtis in the title role, directed by Robert Mulligan. The film only loosely follows Demara's real-life exploits, and is much lighter in tone than the book on which it is based.

Chemical Mimicry as an Integrating Mechanism: Cuticular Hydrocarbons of a Termitophile and Its Host - www.sciencemag.org The Stranger Who Isn't a Stranger Genesis 17:8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. Social insects seldom, if ever, tolerate other species within their communities. Strangers are generally identified by their smell, rather than by their appearance, since those insects that aren't actually blind have very poor eyesight. It is common for social insects to unite to destroy even one stranger who invades their nest. Like most social insects, termites don't tolerate strangers. However, the Trichopsenius frosti beetle likes to make its living within the nest of just one species of termite. These termites produce a very specific mixture of 21 compounds that are mixed into a unique scent by which they identify nest mates. The unique scent includes a compound that is a third of the total mix, while other compounds are included as less than one percent of the mix. As unlikely as it sounds, the Trichopsenius is able to make the same mix of compounds so perfectly that its presence in the termite nest goes unquestioned. Those who trust Christ for their salvation are strangers in this world. But unlike the Trichopsenius beetle, because we are strangers here, we should not strive to be like those among whom we are strangers. Like Abraham ...

Danny Love of the Great Imposters

This is Danny performing "The Pizza Man" at Club Figaro Dinner Theatre in Toronto; circa 1982. Leslea O'Shea and Rusty Ryan are the back up boys. It was shot by a fan of the group, Cathy Jacobs, of Barrie Ontario. The VHS tape that this video has been recovered from is over 25 years old. Danny Love is now a legend in the history of the story of Canadian female impersonation, and even somewhat of a myth amongst younger drag performers who have started their careers since the last years of his life, and subsequent early death, in the mid-nineties. Simply put, he was an original. He was also an inadvertent participant in the rights, activist and awareness processes that the gay community went through, and endured, particularly throughout the 70's and 80's. As a solo entertainer or member of the Great Imposters, from the mid-70's until his death in the mid-90's, he brought a "little bit of Vegas" to Canada as the group ploughed their way through a circuit of nightclubs, dinner theatres and discotheques not only in big cities, but also, the "back woods" of the country. Danny developed many "signature" pieces that are still performed today by others who remember him. He was one of those comedians that would gladly and willingly sacrifice "image" in the name of comedy and entertaining his audiences. A very physical and dynamic entertainer, he was also well known for his "rubber face". He evolved a number of look-alike impressions throughout his career. Most notable of those ...

Kryon - The Timing Of The Great Shift (excerpt)

www.kryon.com www.kryon.com Excerpt: ''Let me give you another paradigm for healing: Let us say there's one in here that has something surging through your body that you would like to eliminate. Perhaps you don't think I know who's here, do you? Am I speaking clear enough to you or not, dear one? [Kryon pause] In a three-dimensional paradigm, you wish you could somehow heal this, don't you? You wish to take it out of your body and put something else in. Let me give you a whole different idea: Why not simply transform it? In the quietness of your meditation, why don't you speak to the quantum levels of your DNA? "How do I do that, Kryon?" Do it through the Higher-Self, which was there in every lifetime! Did you realize that? One Higher-Self, many lives. You have a friend who was there every time! Say to that Higher-Self, "Find me the lifetime that didn't have the disease, and put it in my existing DNA!" For it's in your DNA, in the interdimensional levels. Your personal Akashic record is in your DNA! Slowly bring forward that lifetime. Replace the portions of your DNA that you have now, with the attributes of another that was also YOU... one you lived already and have earned. It's still there. "Can we really do that, Kryon?" Indeed, this is the phase in which we are teaching it. This is the phase where you can begin the process to learn it - more than you've hoped for, perhaps. "Now it's getting strange," you say. Indeed! For when you look at quantum gifts, they don't make ...
