The Smiths - Still Ill (Live)

Broadcast live on the Tube 1984. One of three excellent tracks, from an up and coming band! About the shit crowd - coz everyone goes on about it.... THIS WAS NOT A SMITHS GIG!!!! The Tube was a TV show that had several bands appearing on one night! The show's bands were chosen at short notice. I only found out the day before, and the tickets were all gone. Sold locally to the good citizens of Newcastle, where the show was filmed. At the time, the band were only big in Manchester and London... The audience didn't know who they would see. The Smiths were almost unknown at the time. The crowd were not fans (apart from a very few). The only song the rest of the crowd knew was This Charming Man, if they had seen it on top of the pops a few months earlier. Now, for all those who say they'd have been dancin their socks off... Can you remember the first time you heard a Smiths song (or indeed any really fantastic track)? Did you suddenly start moshin as if your life depended on it? No! You thought vaguely "these sound pretty good. What's their name, I think I'll buy their record?". That's what this crowd were thinking.... When the beatles played their first few gigs at the Cavern, were they mobbed by hundreds of screaming girls? No, coz no bugger knew them yet.... They just hadn't earned it yet baby!

The Smiths I know it's over

The Smiths I know it's over Traduzido imagens do filme Ukraniano Sappho. Rate the video! :) Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head And as I climb into an empty bed Oh well... Enough said I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go Oh... Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head See, the sea wants to take me The knife wants to slit me Do you think you can help me ? Sad veiled bride, please be happy Handsome groom, give her room Loud, loutish lover, treat her kindly (although she needs you more than she loves you) And I know it's over - still I cling I don't know where else I can go (Over and over and over and over Over and over...) I know it's over And it never really began But in my heart it was so real And you even spoke to me, and said: "If you're so funny Then why are you on your own tonight? And if you're so clever Then why are you on your own tonight? If you're so very entertaining Then why are you on your own tonight? If you're so very good-looking Why do you sleep alone tonight? I know... Because tonight is just like any other night That's why you're on your own tonight With your triumphs and your charms While they're in each other's arms..." It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes strength to be gentle and kind (Over, over, over, over) It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes guts to be gentle and kind (Over, over) Love is Natural and Real But not for you, my love Not tonight, my love Love is ...

The Smiths - Unhappy Birthday

Artist: The Smiths Song: Unhappy Birthday Album: Strangeways, Here We Come Lyrics I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday 'Cause you're evil And you lie And if you should die I may feel slightly sad (But I won't cry) Loved and lost And some may say When usually it's Nothing Surely you're happy It should be this way ? I say "No, I'm gonna kill my dog" And : "May the lines sag, may the lines sag heavy and deep tonight" I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday I've come to wish you an unhappy birthday 'Cause you're evil And you lie And if you should die I may feel slightly sad (But I won't cry) Loved and lost And some may say When usually it's Nothing Surely you're happy It should be this way ? I said "No" And then I shot myself So, drink, drink, drink And be ill tonight From the one you left behind From the one you left behind From the one you left behind From the one you left behind Behind Behind Behind Behind Behind Behind Oh, unhappy birthday Behind Behind Behind

The Smiths - Asleep

Illustrating The Smiths at their darkest emotional ebb, Asleep is as beautiful as it is ghastly; a song of assiduous despair, it is the harsh and authentic clamour of the human soul at its most nihilistic.... Sing me to sleep And then leave me alone Don't try to wake me in the morning 'Cause I will be gone Don't feel bad for me I want you to know Deep in the cell of my heart I will feel so glad to go To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream
The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

Rare music video. ------------------------------------ I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour But heaven knows I'm miserable now I was looking for a job, and then I found a job And heaven knows I'm miserable now In my life Why do I give valuable time To people who don't care if I live or die ? Two lovers entwined pass me by And heaven knows I'm miserable now I was looking for a job, and then I found a job And heaven knows I'm miserable now In my life Oh, why do I give valuable time To people who don't care if I live or die ? What she asked of me at the end of the day Caligula would have blushed "You've been in the house too long" she said And I (naturally) fled In my life Why do I smile At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye ? I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour But heaven knows I'm miserable now "You've been in the house too long" she said And I naturally fled In my life Why do I give valuable time To people who don't care if I live or die ?

The Smiths: Hand in Glove

The Smiths Hand in Glove from their self titled debut album Lyrics: Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds No, it's not like any other love This one is different - because it's us Hand in glove We can go wherever we please And everything depends upon How near you stand to me And if the people stare Then the people stare Oh, I really don't know and I really don't care There's no shame, ohhh no... Ohhh no... Hand in glove The Good People laugh Yes, we may be hidden by rags But we've something they'll never have Hand in glove The sun shines out of our behinds Yes, we may be hidden by rags But we've something they'll never have And if the people stare Then the people stare Oh, I really don't know and I really don't care There's no shame, ohhh no... Ohhh no... So, hand in glove I stake my claim I'll fight to the last breath If they dare touch a hair on your head I'll fight to the last breath For the Good Life is out there somewhere So stay on my arm, you little charmer But I know my luck too well Yes, I know my luck too well And I'll probably never see you again I'll probably never see you again I'll probably never see you again
