DON'T 'TOUCH MY JUNK' John Tyner - ORIGINAL TSA FULL encounter

VISIT: donttouchmyjunk.viralprints.com for DON'T TOUCH MY JUNK! CLOTHING AND APPAREL I was approached by a man in slacks and a sport coat. He was accompanied by the officer that had escorted me to the ticketing area and Mr. Silva. He informed me that I could not leave the airport. He said that once I start the screening in the secure area, I could not leave until it was completed. Having left the area, he stated, I would be subject to a civil suit and a $10000 fine. I asked him if he was also going to fine the 6 TSA agents and the local police officer who escorted me from the secure area. After all, I did exactly what I was told. He said that they didn't know the rules, and that he would deal with them later. They would not be subject to civil penalties. I then pointed to Mr. Silva and asked if he would be subject to any penalties. He is the agents' supervisor, and he directed them to escort me out. The man informed me that Mr. Silva was new and he would not be subject to penalties, either. He again asserted the necessity that I return to the screening area. When I asked why, he explained that I may have an incendiary device and whether or not that was true needed to be determined. I told him that I would submit to a walk through the metal detector, but that was it; I would not be groped. He told me that their procedures are on their website, and therefore, I was fully informed before I entered the airport; I had implicitly agreed to whatever screening they deemed ...

McCoy Tyner - My Favorite Things [Echoes of a Friend] 1972

McCoy Tyner - My Favorite Things [Echoes of a Friend] 1972 "McCoy Tyner is one of the most important pianists in jazz history. His 40+ year career is remarkable for its diversity and consistent high quality. I consider this recording his crowning achievement. Not only is "Echoes of a Friend" my favorite Tyner recording, I consider it to be one of the finest solo piano recordings I have ever heard. This is not easy listening music. If you like Kenny G., this is not for you. This is intense, passionate music played by a virtuoso musician. Think 'Art Tatum meets Igor Stravinsky' and you'll have some idea what this CD is like. Along with Coltrane's 'First Meditations (for Quartet)', this is some of the most astonishing spiritual/religious music ever recorded. (And this is coming from an atheist!) Buy this CD, turn out the lights, lie down with your head between the speakers, and prepare to have your consciousness altered." (Amazon.com reviewer) Reviewer, Matt P, Progreviews.com: McCoy Tyner and Keith Jarrett were among the forebears of the "not quite jazz/not quite anything else" style of solo piano recitals often played today by a number of younger artists (Brad Meldhau, for instance). Tyner stayed closer to his jazz roots than did Jarrett, however, and on his first solo piano album, Echoes of a Friend, Tyner looks back to his former bandmate John Coltrane for inspiration. Three of the five tunes are from Tyner's days in Coltrane's quartet. Two of them are Coltrane originals ...

McCoy Tyner Style Tutorial

Visit my website at www.lot2learn.com for midi files, backing tracks and solo transcriptions. My first "McCoy Style" video was so well received I decided to make another one. I have placed some annotations in the video and hope that the enhanced midi keyboard view will help with deciphering the various techniques I use. As with my previous McCoy style video, here are some basics 1. Know your pentatonic scales in all 12 keys. If you need to review these check out the pentatonic tutorial done by Volvoxburger - watch it here: www.youtube.com Practice different patterns in the right hand using these scales and try moving in and out of different keys. 2. You can move in and out of different keys as long as you end up at the tonal center at key points or as I call them "landing zones". These typically will be the first beat of a 4 measure phrase. 3. 2nd inversion triads (there is a typo in the video) can be effective in the right hand when used in combination with stacked 4ths in the left. 4. Much of McCoy's improvisation is rhythm based - that's why he has dynamite drummers and very solid bass players. Vary the rhythms of both hands. Check out the section from 3:30 - 3:36 for an example of this. 5. Anticipate the upcoming chord in the LH by playing a line in the RH based on that upcoming chord in beat 3 or 4 of the preceding measure. Production Notes: The backing track was created partially with Band-in-a-Box with additional drums (crash cymbals) and bass added using the ...

MIDI File, Notation File and Backing Track File for this video are all available on my website at: www.Lot2learn.com My McCoy Tyner Style videos are some of the most popular style requested. I have tried to add some annotations to help in the understanding this style of playing. There is a lot of mixing and matching of pentatonics and repetitive rhythmic motifs. IMO, one of the keys for me when playing in this style is to have set "landing zones" or "safety zones". These are chords and lines that give the listener a reference point within the context of the improvisation. When taking the improv "outside" the listener needs some reassurance that you will bring them back. It is the whole tension and resolve that makes for the excitement and the "safety zones" allow for a point of reference to the listener. Production Notes I am using a Roland FP-4 keyboard. Backing track created with Band-in-a box with additional cymbal work courtesy of the FP-4 drum kit. On-screen keyboard from PGMusic Powertracks Pro captured with BB Flashback Pro software by Blueberry Software. Update: TSA Targets John Tyner In Effort To Chill Nationwide Backlash

The TSA is intensifying its efforts to chill the nationwide backlash against invasive groping procedures by targeting the refusnik who became a cause célèbre when he told a TSA official this past weekend, "If you touch my junk, I'll have you arrested." John Tyner joins Alex Jones to discuss his experiences confronting TSA over their new, more invasive pat down procedures. In addition, Mr. Tyner proves that the suit brought against him is nothing more than a scare technique used to scare the 'sheeple' into submission. McCoy Tyner - Celestial Chant [Trident] 1975

Musicians: McCoy Tyner - Celestial Chant [Trident] 1975 McCoy Tyner (piano, harpsichord, cello), Ron Carter (bass), Elvin Jones (drums). Composed by McCoy Tyner. In 1975, 10 years after his tenure with John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner was at the height of his solo career. "Trident," a big, confident album recorded with Ron Carter and Elvin Jones, sounds triumphant. This is a trio that sounds larger than the sum of its parts. Starting a McCoy Tyner album with a harpsichord ("Celestial Chant") is a brilliant idea. Jones and Tyner conjure up Coltrane's spirit by combining spaciousness with yearning flurries. Jones's ever-changing ride cymbal meshes perfectly with Tyner's left hand, while the latter's right hand evokes Coltrane's "sheets of sound." Carlos Jobim's "Once I Loved" is heralded by celeste, the richness of the melody a perfect foil for Tyner's urgent approach. And Jones's cymbal work is, again, wonderful--airy, unpredictable, and magical. TRIDENT is cleverly constructed; there is plenty of contrast, and the overall impression is one of three dynamic masters at the top of their game. Recorded in February 1975.

Originally released on Milestone (9067).McCoy Tyner's first major attempt at commercial success, 1976's FLY WITH THE WIND, is in a sense a follow-up to 1973's SONG OF THE NEW WORLD. On that album, although Tyner was experimenting with writing for a large group, his material was a direct outgrowth of his work with John Coltrane. Here, producer Orrin Keepnews and drum star Billy Cobham bring McCoy fully into the jazz-rock world. The orchestral backup and strings that sweeten Tyner's flights of pianistic fancy add a cinematic touch, and Hubert Laws's flute lends commercial viability as well as a textural contrast. But Tyner's playing still leaves spiritual echoes, while Cobham's excitable virtuosity makes the pianist's solos sound almost introspective by comparison. "Beyond the Sun" features a poignant and spare arrangement; after the orchestral statement, the piano enters unaccompanied, effectively imitating the orchestra. Tyner's piano sweeps evoke strings, harp, and flute ...

McCoy Tyner - Atlantis (partial) [Atlantis] 1974

McCoy Tyner - Atlantis (partial) [Atlantis] 1974 This is the single-CD reissue of all of the music from a former two-LP set. Pianist McCoy Tyner's 1974 quintet consisted of the talented youngster Azar Lawrence on tenor and soprano, bassist Joony Booth, drummer Wilby Fletcher and percussionist Guilherme Franco. As is accurately stated in the new liner notes by Neil Tesser, Atlantis was the final recording from Tyner's last band to be based on the music of his former boss, John Coltrane. While Lawrence (who was only 20 at the time) derived his style partly from aspects of Coltrane and the rhythm section is fiery, Tyner creates some very powerful and highly original solos, really tearing into some of the more extended pieces. Recorded live at San Francisco's legendary Keystone Korner, this set has four of Tyner's modal originals played by the full group, a rendition of "My One and Only Love" performed by the leader, Lawrence and Franco as a trio, and a solo piano version of "In a Sentimental Mood." Essential music that still sounds fresh and adventurous. ~ Scott Yanow Recorded in August and September 1974. Personnel McCoy Tyner: piano, percussion Azar Lawrence: tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone Joony Booth: bass Wilby Fletcher: drums Guilherme Franco: percussion "Atlantis" 17:59 Scott Yanow, writing for Allmusic, notes that "Tyner creates some very powerful and highly original solos, really tearing into some of the more extended pieces... Wave by Jobim - McCoy Tyner Style

Midi file, notation file and backing track file available at www.lot2learn.com McCoy Tyner is one of may favorite musicians. His phenomenal technique and high energy playing is unmistakable. I recently heard the McCoy Tyner album "Super Trios" featuring a version of the great Jobim song "Wave" and knew I had to give it a try in that style. McCoy plays Wave at a very bright 190 BPM on that album and in the key of C, so that's what I've done here. I had some lighting issues with the video recording so I decided to convert it to grayscale for clarity. I've placed the chord changes on the top of the video and they are fairly accurate although I may have added a #9 instead of a b9 on some of the chords. For the tag at the end I give a little nod to "A Love Supreme". ;-) Technical notes Roland FP-4 digital Piano using internal sounds.
