On January 19, 2012 UCPD sent out a force of riot police to disband a protest held against the UC Regents plan to increase tuition fees. Protestors were attacked on a variety of occasions by UCPD, this is just one of those incidents.

California Athletics recognized two UCPD officers - Ally Jacobs & Lisa Campbell - during their 2009 Football Home Opener against the Maryland Terrapins. Alert action by these two members of the UC Berkeley police force played a key role in the arrest of kidnapping suspect Phillip Garrido and the return of Jaycee Lee Dugard, who in 1991 at age 11 was abducted from her South Lake Tahoe neighborhood. In other countries in Latin America and Europe, police are not allowed on campus because of these very reasons. It's time we throw the UCPD off our campus!

Raw footage of video taken as UCPD was breaking through the peaceful protesters surrounding the initial camp at Occupy Cal. For context, here is my eyewitness story: The Occupy Cal General Assembly voted to begin the occupation of the grassy space in front of Sproul Hall. Then as the first tent is set up, Occupy Cal was met with police force telling us to leave or risk arrest. By linking arms around our small encampment of a few tents, we stood in protest to protect our encampment. This is how the UCPD responds only tens of minutes later, overtaking the chains of people through force and the power of the baton.
