For more, click here: www.avweb.com The WoopyFly, a sort of paraglider/trike/ultralight hybrid shown on the world stage at AERO Friedrichshafen this April 2010 in Germany, has a wing that folds for storage like a paraglider — because it's inflatable. Currently, it appears the wing itself is only available from distributors in Switzerland, Russia, and Japan. Those wishing to buy the trike (plus wing) can expect a complete kit cost to run about 13780 Swiss Francs, which currently is about US$12400 — plus the legal disclaimer that releases the manufacturer of liability. Just aired about 5 hours ago on The Essential Selection 07-22-2011 Jaymo and Andy Jorge standing in for Pete Tong on Radio 1. Brand new track off his new album and its fire! Can't wait for it :3 The mp3 source is 192 bitrate, I suspect the mp3 given to them was this quality of lower, on purpose too, none of the other songs during the mix were this low quality, so it will have to do for now, until Surkin gives us something better :D Jaymo mistakenly calls it Ultralicense, what will the final name be I wonder? :P

This video showcases the "lighter side" of backpacking by featuring a trip using my new, less than 5lb pack system. This style of hiking is technically referred to as "Super Ultra Lightweight Backpacking". After much time spent in the field hiking with packs weighing upward of 50lbs, the past few years have found me leaning toward a slightly more "minimalist" approach in regard to my backpacking style. This path first brought me to pack weights of about 20 pounds... ultimately arriving where I am now with a full feature pack weighing less than 5lbs. Don't get me wrong, I like gear as much as the next person. In fact, a variety of gear is not only necessary for certain outdoor pursuits, but mandatory in many instances. With that said, I have taken a serious look at what I actually "need" for certain activities, and have been adopting a "less is more" mindset. This has been more of a person challenge as much as anything. Safety and comfort remain paramount. I am not advocating going into the wilderness under-equipped or unprepared. Significant experience in the field is essentially mandatory to find a balance of what is luxury and what is necessity. Even with this knowledge and experience, these types of gear systems are limited to specific conditions and circumstances. Of course, all of this is only my own opinion and personal experience. I remain open-minded and welcome any insight, experience, and advice that you may have to offer. There is a comprehensive gear review ...

1 person ultralight backpacking shelter. This is my first time setting up the poncho/tarp. I use a GoLite poncho, cheap aluminium tent stakes, and kelty triptease line. I tied a bowline knot on the pole ends of the line and looped it back from the stakes into a prussic knot for tensioners. Enjoy.

11 lb backpacking kit includes pack, sleeping gear, pad, rain gear, poncho/tarp tent with bug netting, water filtering and purification, cooking and eating gear, first aid kit, etc. It's complete, safe, relatively cheap and comfortable. (Comment: Not in the video but in the pack is also a 5 x 10 foot plastic ground cloth made from punture resistant temporary storm window film available at any hardware store....and it weighs only 4 ounces. Also, see "ultralight backpacking kit 2" for what I carry in my pocket.) I also carry a cell phone camera for pictures.

This is my granddaughter taking me for a ride in my 1984 QuickSilver MX II with a 50 horsepower Rotax engine. It is registered and N-Numbered here in Western North Carolina. The control stick in her right hand is for elevator and rudder, the two levers on it R&L main wheel brakes. Her left hand is controlling the throttle, the foot pedals control spoilers on top of the wings. This is a two axis former ultralight trainer. The pedal controlled spoilers are only needed to fly when there is more wind. This day the wind was about 5 MPH. The nose wheel does not move, taxi steering is done with the stick controlling the rudder, and the R&L brakes. My grandchildren have been flying with me off and on since they were in diapers. At this point my granddaughter has about 40+/- hours of unlogged flying time, most of it in this aircraft. She says that controlling the plane is becoming second nature now, and she enjoys flying. If she keeps at it soon she will be able to fly my other plane, a single seat weedhopper ultralight. If and when we will post it on YouTube as well. This is low budget flying with bare minimum of equipment. We do not even have two way intercom between us. She has learned to fly by a lot of ground schooling, a few hand signals and simply getting into the seat and flying. She may someday go on to get her pilots license or maybe just stick to lightly regulated "ultralights" no license required. I got my "Private Pilot" License a year after getting out of high school ...
