A canteen kit is a great choice for minimalists, backpackers, and bushcrafters alike. The basic canteen cup includes a stainless steel cup with butterfly handles, one canteen cup stove to fit on cup, one plastic or nalgene kidney canteen, and one MOLLE canteen case. The normal canteen holds 1qt, and the canteen cup holds 3 cups. The stove can be used with wood, tablet fuels like trioxane, esbit, wetfire, hexamine, or green heat gel. A military issue canteen case will most likely have malice clips and/or MOLLE webbing, which can also be used as belt loops. You can get all of these for around 35$ at any military surplus or depot.

Another classic US WWII rifle. The M1 carbine was intended to be "light rifle" fitting between the full sized M1 Garand and smaller sub machine guns or pistols like the M3 or 1911. CMP Rack Grade Underwood carbine, features a milled adjustable rear sight, earlier pattern operating slide, flat bolt, late production T4 barrel band, standard configuration M1 carbine stock with "low wood" with a stamped/brazed trigger housing. The barrel is an original Underwood and the magazine is a IS (International Silver) 15 round USGI. Underwood-Elliot-Fisher was based in Hartford, Connecticut and was a well known manufacturer of typewriters and other office equipment. One of the 10 main firms pressed into service on building M1 carbines for the war effort. Underwood made around 546616 M1 Carbines representing 8.9 % of the total production.

National Postal Meter was based in Rochester, New York and was one of the 10 major contractors building M1 Carbines during World War II. They were known for postal scales and metered mail machines, and built aproximately 6.8 % of all the M1 carbines produced. In this video I go over baseplate, prismatic, mirror and lensatic sighting compasses from Suunto, Brunton, Silva and Cammenga: Suunto M-3DL Suunto MC-2G Silver Ranger (US Brand, not Swedish) Brunton 54LU (Silva 54 Expedition) Cammenga USGI Lensatic All of these compasses have plusses and minuses. The baseplate versions are simplest and lightest with good enough accuracy for just about anything I've ever needed a compass to do. The prismatic sighting compass is a neat design that can give more accuracy but lacks declination adjustment. The mirror compasses are more feature packed with things like inclinometers. The Cammenga lensastic is USGI milspec. It is accurate, but heavy and lacks features such as declination and a built in protractor. Yet, it is very rugged. I like and use all the compasses except the Silva Ranger. The Silva Ranger sold in the US and Canada is not made by Silva of Sweden any longer, but another company. Don't waste your money on the US marketed Silva Ranger or any other US marketed Silva products. They are all junk. I demonstrate why in this video. I rate the Suunto MC-2G with the global needle as the best liquid filled compass I've used. The Cammenga is the best lensatic type compass I've used.

The USGI MSS was so warm I had to unzip it. This is one warm and dry setup. I didn't use the Gore-Tex Bivy and even though the outside of the bag was damp, I stayed warm and dry.

Finally had the chance to function check the Springfield from hell. Pistol had massive failure to feed issues since it was new. I finally sent it back to Springfield for them to repair it. They replaced the barrel, barrel bushing, and extractor. Plus they polished the feed ramp. They paid all shipping (next day air) and total turn around time was one week. Pistol performed flawlessly for the 250 rounds I fired through it.
After some questions on AR15.com about how the ACR runs with USGI mags I wanted to do a video showing that it runs just fine with them. The first mag was an old one with a new Magpul follower and spring, the second was a Kay green follower mag and the camera messed up before I ran the third mag, that one was a Colt 30 rd black follower mag all mags ran with out malfunction.

In my previous couple of video's where I talk about the effectiveness of a stock USGI trigger in a AR / M4 type of rifle, I have been asked a lot of questions or received a lot of comments, that I only shot up close for speed. The next question or comment is, "well at longer distances a red dot and a USGI trigger isn't effective, what then? Well, as with my original opinion, is that a shooter is much better served learning good fundamentals and being able to apply them correctly using a stock or USGI type of trigger. As a shooters skills progress then they might look into other things such as match type of triggers. But in reality they are not necessary if you have a good grasp of the basic fundamentals of marksmanship. This video utilizes a 16" M4 type rifle with a stock USGI trigger and an EoTech red dot optic. Range varies from as close as 220 yards out to 450 yards and fairly rapid speeds. It isn't the hardware, its the software. If the software isn't up to speed, its time to upgrade it.
