I placed 8th place out of 20 shooters yesterday at the USPSA match with my Glock 35. Much better than last time. AND that is with a loose rear sight. Placed 3rd out of 5 shooters in my class (limited) Enjoy me falling on my rear at one of the stages. It wasn't intentional. Dave Sevigny is shooting open this year! Of course Dave is also shooting the production division but it will be exciting to see him compete in the open division for the first time in a national venue. An open gun allows more modifications to the gun such as a red dot scope, muzzle compensator, extended magazines... basically the indy cars of guns.

The USPSA Nationals 2011 was held in the usual Desert Sportsman Range in Las Vegas, NV. With a variety of short, medium, and long courses, this year worked on competitors' strengths and weaknesses. I was pretty disappointed on my performance. I thought I could improve a little from 2009, but I actually did worse. Stages were pretty simple to break down and weren't too complicated. However, if there's one thing I never do well in, it's classifiers. And other than a couple of stages, I felt like I was in classifier city. The question for most competitors was, "how much are you willing to risk?" Go fast and get dinged with a mike/no-shoot, or go slow and get a crappy hit factor? Well, I never found that middle ground. I usually went too slow, but for those few that I pushed the limits just a tad, I got a mike. And for these stages, a mike (or worse, a mike and no-shoot) is like going 4+ seconds slower than the next competitor that didn't miss. Good news is that my gun ran perfectly, I got my major power factor that I wanted, and I got to meet some great folks. There's always next year (if I'm still here) I guess. Got three more videos to go...production and B-Roll for both matches. Let's keep 'em rollin!

This match was amazing. High round count (172rnds across 6 stages) and stages were very challenging to shoot. The steel through the barrel was a humbling experience. After reviewing the videos, all my shots were going top right. You know what that means? MORE PRACTICE :)
