CanSecWest 2011 -- Project Ubertooth, Building a Better Bluetooth Adapter

Training from cansecwest.com from the CanSecWest 2011 Technical Security conference held in March 2011 Michael Ossman gives you the history, design, and engineering information and a Bluetooth Security tutorial from the story of making his Ubertooth Bluetooth Sniffer. In his words "Project Ubertooth: Building a Better Bluetooth Adapter " Michael Ossmann, Great Scott Gadgets This is the story of how someone with very little knowledge of electronics embarked on a project to build a 2.4 GHz wireless development platform and ultimately succeeded in creating a low cost device that can be used for Bluetooth sniffing and more. Find out how to build your own Ubertooth One, how to use it for Bluetooth experimentation and other things, and catch a glimpse of an exciting future of wireless security research enabled by open source hardware. Project Ubertooth was a direct outgrowth of the work Dominic Spill and I presented at ShmooCon V in our talk, Building an All-Channel Bluetooth Monitor. The feedback we received from that presentation led me to pursue development of a low cost hardware platform for Bluetooth sniffing. Ubertooth One brings the hardware cost down from over $1000 to under $100. It can discover non-discoverable devices, sniff complete conversations, and (with future work on firmware) can even be used for raw frame injection. It also has capabilities beyond Bluetooth. -- If emerging security technology interests you, or your company, please check out our upcoming <b>...</b>

Hak5 - Custom Bluetooth Hacking Hardware - Shmoocon 2011

This time on Hak5 we venture back to DC for Shmoocon and meet up with Michael Ossmann of GreatScottGadgets.com to find out about project Ubertooth -- a custom hardware device for sniffing and injecting bluetooth packets. Then Shannon finds out the latest from Hackers For Charity with our good friend Johnny Long. Look out for even more Shmoocon coverage next week as we wrap up Hak5 season 8. www.kickstarter.com www.hackersforcharity.org

Shmoocon 2012: Destroying Evidence Before Its Evidence

This video is part of the Infosec Video Collection at SecurityTube.net: www.securitytube.net Shmoocon 2012 Destroying Evidence Before Its Evidence In the world of wireless security, Bluetooth is a technology not to be ignored. Since its introduction to the world over a decade ago, it has become a popular means of connecting many of our gadgets together. Its popularity has not been overlooked by hackers. Plenty of attacks exist today against elements of Bluetooth technology. And more threats are being discovered all the time with devices like the Ubertooth. How can you tell if your device is being targeted? Well, while Danish King, Harald Bluetooth Gormsson, has been dead for over 1000 years, this talk will attempt to do battle for his namesake technology with the release of the BLuetooth Attack Detection Engine (BLADE). Come find out about existing threats to your Bluetooth enabled devices. Learn how to detect if you.re being targeted by malicious Bluetooth activity and how to fight back. Oh god how did I get here I am not good with animation. A little animation I did, that took me far long than it should have (on account of the virtual cam crashing flash every 2.5 seconds) I orginally drew the satire versions of me, Uber, Tooth, and anbrad, but then decided to animate them. What resulted was this. Music by Ubergamer.

The Last HOPE: How Do I Pwn Thee - Let Me Count The Ways (Complete)

The business world has spawned a new kind of creature, the mobile, traveling worker. This creature typically carries a multitude of wireless devices on them while traveling to and from clients. Unless special care has been taken, these devices present a plethora of ways to pwn them and their data. This talk will take a look at a worst case scenario and go through all the ways one of these business travelers can be pwn'd at a distance by a bored attacker in an airport, hotel, or other public space.

Black Hat USA 2010: JavaSnoop: How to Hack Anything Written in Java 1/4

Speaker: Arshan Dabirsiaghi Anybody who has assessed anything with a thick Java client has probably been frustrated beyond belief and unhappy with their coverage, but that's only because this tool hasn't been released yet. We created a tool that allows you to easily jump into any JVM on your machine, and tamper with class bytecode, method parameters, return values - without requiring any pesky original source code, or the most elusive artifact - skill! What happens when that applet you want to hack uses serialized objects over a custom encryption scheme, and you have 40 hours to break it? Theoretically, you know that's not good enough, but who cares about "theoretically"? JavaSnoop will allow you to intercept calls inside the JVM for tampering with data before it gets to the network, while its still in object form! What happens when that fancy desktop tool you have has an expired license? JavaSnoop will allow you to make that isLicensed() check return the value you want, instead of the value you didn't pay for. All this in a nice, portable GUI tool. I can't wait to enable you! For more information click here (bit.ly
