I've been a pokemon fanatic since the first red/blue series (Even got to play a little bit of green back in the day) from buying both versions, to EV/IV training, and now to arranging the music for ukulele. Ukuleles for Peace orchestra is a growing 4 years old co-existence non profit project for Arab & Jewish children and their families. Two almost identical tenor ukuleles: Ohana TK-35G (without cutaway) and TK-35CG (with cutaway). One of them is fitted with Aquila strings and the other with medium Worth strings. Which do you like best: the strings on the cutaway or the non-cutaway? I will publish the results on UU in a couple of weeks. I just doodling about, but I did try to record similar stuff on each. The improv was rather longer than 10 minutes, so I took a chunk out of the middle. I know that some of you will be able to recognise which strings are which. However, try to judge which strings sound best on these particular instruments, not on which strings you use most.
Tenor 4-string, designed by luthier Casey Kamaka to the specific requirements of Jake Shimabukuro, was hand numbered, autographed, and personally inspected for the highest quality by Jake. The Jake Signature model is intricately detailed and features premium curly koa, ebony fingerboard and bridge with Jake's logo inlayed in mother of pearl, abalone heart rosette and purfling bordered with red trim. Other features include rosewood top and back binding, flat-top style headstock found only on Jake's personal ukuleles, gold Schaller mini guitar keys with ebony buttons, a Fishman Acoustic Matrix pickup and a hard inside case and soft outer custom case embroidered with our Kamaka logo. Only 100 of these 'ukuleles are being made. The crafting of 100 custom-made instruments to the specifications of Jake Shimabukuro and luthier Casey Kamaka has been a labor intensive and time consuming process. In order to maintain the highest standard of quality, each 'ukulele has taken about eighteen months to complete.

A little song dedicated to the hard work of the Ukulele's for Peace Project, played on a Tuvan Igil. This isn't my project, I'm just helping spread the word about it though my song, and hope you'll do the same. Here's is some info about the project from the UkulelesForPeace.com website For a long time, we have been watching and living the miserable situation between Israel and the Palestinian Arabs in the area. We asked ourselves, how can we contribute to a change of atmosphere? How can we break the distrust between the societies, and how can we--as simple citizens--create more opportunities for Jews and Arabs to meet and be involved with one another in our daily lives? As Paul regularly performs to both Arab and Jewish kids, it gave him an idea: to combine his love for the ukulele (a small and easy to learn 4 string instrument) and his experience with children to create Ukuleles For Peace. The goal of Ukuleles for Peace is to bring Jewish and Arab children together to play in an orchestra with ukuleles, kazoos and other fun instruments. Paul works with the students once a week in their own schools, and then brings them together for performances. The children sing in Hebrew, Arabic and English. The hope is that playing together will create further opportunities for communal activities, and that parents and members of the communities will get involved in the program.
