Citing unnamed US officials and corporate documents, the newspaper said that Erik Prince, who came to live in the United Arab Emirates last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, is using $529 million from the sheikdom to complete the mission. The force is intended to conduct special operations missions inside and outside the country, defend oil pipelines and skyscrapers from terrorist attacks and put down internal revolts, the report said. Such troops could be deployed if the Emirates faced unrest or were challenged by pro-democracy demonstrations in its crowded labor camps in the oil fields or democracy protests like those sweeping the Arab world this year, the paper noted. ♥ Spirit of the Union - UAE National Day 2011 ♥

I made this video because I love living in the UAE! It's home for me..... ♥ The National Day of the UAE is celebrated on 2nd December every year. The UAE was formed in the year 1971 under the leadership of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The United Arab Emirates is a federation of 7 emirates, namely, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ajman. From a desert land of yore, the UAE has emerged as a glittering metropolitan with the spirit of globalization permeating its very veins.

India vs UAE (2-2) 28-7-2011-India 2-2 UAE (United Arab Emirates) WorldCupQualifier Highlights

India go into the second-leg of their 2014 FIFA World Cup -- Asian Round 2 home-and-away qualifier against the United Arab Emirates at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi tomorrow with a 0-3 deficit. The UAE were favoured to go through when we went into this tie, now it is even more likely with India having to score at least three goals to get into extra-time and if they concede it is nearly over. India will have to forget what had happened on Saturday at the Sheikh Khalifa International Stadium in Al Ain City. In only four minutes left back Debabrata Roy and goalkeeper Subrata Pal were send off by the Qatari referee, but India only conceded one goal from open play in the 60 plus minutes with nine men. That is an achievement in itself, but India will tomorrow will have to push for an early goal and ensure that they don't concede early. One UAE goal and India have to score five and that looks unlikely. It's surely Advantage UAE, then they go with a three-goal cushion into the tie, which by Team India Coach Armando Colaco's confession "is hard to overturn." Nevertheless, as Armando Colaco pointed out, "India have little option but to go all out in the second-leg." And added, "We need to attack but our defence needs to stay composed. At any stage, we can never afford to concede." Armando will have to make forced changes. Karanjit Singh will replace Subrata Pal in goal, Syed Rahim Nabi moves into the left back position while Clifford Miranda takes his position on the left wing ...

"Ishy Bilady" - United Arab Emirates National anthem Vocal

The National Anthem of the United Arab Emirates, (Arabic: النشيد الوطني الاماراتي‎), also popularly known as Ishy Bilady (عيشي بلادي; īšiy bilādī; literally, Long Live my Nation), was officially accepted as the United Arab Emirates' national anthem after the formation of the country in 1971. The anthem was composed by Saad Abdel Wahab, who also composed the national anthems of other Arab states, including that of Libya. The lyrics to the anthem, officially adopted in 1996, were written by Arif Al Sheikh Abdullah Al Hassan. English Translation: Live my country, the unity of our Emirates lives You have lived for a nation Whose religion is Islam and guide is the Qur'an I made you stronger in God's name, oh homeland My country, My country, My country, My country God has protected you from the evils of the time We have sworn to build and work Work sincerely, work sincerely As long as we live, we will be sincere The safety has lasted and the flag has lived oh our Emirates The symbol of Arabism We all sacrifice for you, we supply you with our blood We sacrifice for you with our souls oh homeland

Then and Now

Watch the full film on: yearbook.uaeinteract.com This film compares and contrasts the UAE of today with that depicted in historical films, going back to the 1950s. Homes made from palm fronds have been replaced by skyscrapers including the tallest building in the world. Camel transport has been replaced by fast cars and state-of-the-art metro rail systems. Sailing dhows used for pearling and trade are replaced by container ships and luxurious cruising boats. The earliest flights to the UAE on old BOAC bi-planes have given way to ultra modern airports and A380 aircraft. For those seeing the UAE for the first time, this film puts the country's amazing progress into perspective. DUBAI United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates are the pearls of the Persian Bay. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the commercial and tourist centers of the area and were developed within breathtaking speed. The images of the cities are dominated by office buildings, luxury hotels and shopping malls. There are skyscrapers made of concrete, metal and glass but down below them are the old towered houses, the 'souqs', the roofed bazaars, mosques with multiple towers, the hectic markets and the colorful harbors. The museums of the ancient forts keep alive the tradition of the ancient Arab professions folklore. Thanks to the duty-free regime, the shopping malls are cheap and offer an incredible variety of big designer brand clothing, as well as technical gadgets, natural pearls and oriental rugs. Dubai's golden bazaar in itself can be an attractive port of destination. The elegant Burj al Arab hotel, shaped as a wind-blown sail, is only a forerunner of the futuristic buildings of the near future, the Palm Islands and the underwater-hotel. The metropolises are surrounded by desert, with its sand dunes and rare bright oases, Bedouin tents and camel caravans.

Unpaid workers in Dubai refuse to leave

A group of foreign workers in the United Arab Emirates has set up camp in the desert, refusing to leave until they are paid what they say they are owed by employers who have deserted them. One charity says there has been an increase in cases like this, but the government has yet to weigh in. The case has been before the courts for months, but many workers live in dire conditions as they wait for payment. Al Jazeera's Dorsa Jabbari reports from Dubai.
