John Verity, born 3 July 1949 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England was guitarist with the band Argent from 1973 to 1976. When Argent split up he formed Phoenix with Bob Henrit and Jim Rodford from Argent. The band recorded three albums with CBS Records and toured Europe before disbanding. Rodford joined the Kinks, John and Bob joined Charlie, to record an album with RCA Records. John produced the Phoenix albums and Charlie album as well as the first Saxon album and an album for Marseille. During the early 1980s Verity worked with Brian Connolly (former vocalist with Sweet) in an attempt to launch him as a solo artist. A single, "Hypnotised" was released on Carrere Records in 1982 produced by Verity and written by Joe Lynn Turner of Rainbow fame. Verity was part of Connolly's backing band Encore when they supported Pat Benatar at the beginning of 1983. The line up of this band formed the basis of Verity's own band, imaginatively entitled Verity which went on release several albums including "Interrupted Journey". This album also featured Terry Uttley from Smokie on bass guitar. He frequently plays with his band in and around Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. He also has many acoustic gigs as a duo with either Max Milligan or Mark Griffiths as well as with the band. The usual line up features Bob Henrit on drums and Mark Griffiths on bass.

It was then the opening musical at the 3rd Daegu International Musical Festival in South Korea in June 2009. Verity created the role of Kerry for the World Premiere in Adelaide.

Doctor Who 20th Anniversary Interview, Nationwide 1983
I was surprised that no one else had uploaded this little gem, so I thought I'd dig out my copy. This was taped from Nationwide (the old BBC one tea time news magazine programme) almost 24 years ago, in November 1983. There were a number of interviews done on the BBC around this time, as publicity for the special "Five Doctors" programme that celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Doctor Who. I especially love the section at the end of this clip, where Sue Lawley interviews Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Peter Davison. Patrick Troughton was always my favorite Doctor. However in all of the interviews I have seen with him, he seems a little ill at ease. I think he felt, as a character actor, he shouldn't be "himself" too often. I think I saw an interview (also on Youtube)that may have been conducted the same day as this Nationwide appearance. Patrick was there with Peter Davison and seems much less relaxed in that one. I can only assume that he got more relaxed during the day (or maybe had a few drinks before the interview!), but Patrick is great fun in this interview, much more like the character that Deborah Watling and Frazer Hines often talk about, that funny, friendly eccentric Patrick. There is also a fascinating little interview with Verity Lambert, where she seems amazed that this little series she started in 1963 had lasted 20 years, I'm sure she'd be amazed in 1983 if she was told it'd last 44 years (and counting). Verity Africa goes on another adventure with Cara 'Titilayo' Oyinbo as we visit Igbo-Ora, Oyo State, Nigeria. Studies have shown that Igbo-Ora has the largest incidence of twins in the world (three sets of twins are born in every 19 births). The locals believe that the village's high incidence of twins is due to their high consumption of Ilasa (okra leaf). Verity and Titilayo go on location to investigate this belief.
