Released in 1968, it was the first recording by a non-British artist released by Apple Records (see 1968 in music), and would also be Taylor's only release on that label. The album was released under the title First Album on the South African market. The album was produced by Peter Asher, who was A&R head for The Beatles' newly-formed label Apple Records. This Is a version of the Carpenters song with Karen's sweet and perfect voice, and some beat instruments, such as drums, and bass, only. This is actually one of the audio channels from the SACD, and it's really clean. It's enough to close your eyes and have Karen Carpenter singing exclusively for you, as if she were in the same place as you or if you were in the studio having her singing with no intruments but drums and bass. I have a lot of affection for this tune. I did the head with a lot of Bill Evans licks. He likes to start in a key and then modulate up one and one half steps to a new key. It's a very tranquil type of key change. I start off in B major and change to D major after the first pass. Again, I'm using Synthogy's Ivory II Steinway patch for the piano sound. I added some reverb and changed some of the settings as compared to In your Own Sweet Way, which was my last post. I'm playing a Yamaha CP300, which I use as a midi controller. I mix and master in Logic on a macbook pro. I hope you enjoy.

The Fortunes - "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" (1971)
Originally formed as a vocal trio backed by an instrumental group known as The Cliftones, the aggregation placed an instrumental track on a compilation album, Brumbeat, issued by the local Dial record label. "Cygnet Twitch" (similar to "Saturday Nite at the Duck-Pond" by The Cougars, was a working of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake") and they subsequently signed to British Decca in 1963. Their first single "Summertime, Summertime" was credited to the Fortunes and the Cliftones. however the vocalists picked up guitars, jettisoned the Cliftones, and added Andy Brown on drums after Mike Redmond drummer with popular local band the Sunrays declined their offer, and Dave Carr on keyboards. The follow-up disc co-written by the singer-songwriter and future Ivy League member Perry Ford, "Caroline", was used as the signature tune for the pirate radio station, Radio Caroline.
