Music listed below. Focus only on the video and nothing else for maximum effect. Just a little montage I put together. It chronicles the Allied/Axis conflict in Europe. This video has drawn alot of political/morale debate. Please remember, everyone has their opinions, please be respectful of that. Also, a lot of people ask where I got the clips from, I simply got them off of the youtube site. I am in no way taking credit for any of the footage, I simply put the pieces together. I recommend to you to go out and find these clips and watch them. I simply made this video as a tribute for the sake of war. I wanted to create a piece of art, nothing more, nothing less. Music is "Hear Our Prayer" by Yuki Kajiura Kajiura is simply one of the best OST Artists ever. Doing the soundtracks for such titles as Noir, El Cazador De La Bruja, and Tsubasa Chronicle. Very good instrumental work, and the music goes perfectly with the pictures in this video.

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Battle of Britain was the fourth of Frank Capra's Why We Fight series of seven propaganda films, which made the case for fighting and winning the Second World War. It was released in 1943 and concentrated on the German bombardment of the United Kingdom in anticipation of Operation Sea Lion, the planned Nazi invasion of Great Britain. The episode has been criticized for an anti-Polish bias. The bias is a result of propaganda justifying the Western Allies' alliance with the Soviets; as Soviets had to be portrayed as the "good guys", the Allies who were unsympathetic towards Soviets, such as the Poles, were misportrayed or simply ignored. Thus in this episode the map of Europe shown, amazingly, shows half of Poland free (to avoid mentioning Soviet annexation of Polish territories following Soviet invasion of Poland), repeats Nazi propaganda false claims about the Polish Airforce being destroyed on the ground (contrasting it with the correct fact that the RAF was not destroyed), and ignores the significant Polish participation in the battle of Britain (support of Polish pilots from No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron and other units was widely discussed in Britain at the time this propaganda piece was filmed). Why We Fight is a series of seven propaganda films commissioned by the United States government during World War II to demonstrate to American soldiers the reason for US involvement in the war. DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Nazi Germany maintained concentration camps (in German Konzentrationslager, or KZ) throughout the territories it controlled. The first Nazi concentration camps set up in Germany were greatly expanded after the Reichstag fire of 1933, and were intended to hold political prisoners and opponents of the regime. The term was borrowed from the British concentration camps of the Second Anglo-Boer War. The number of camps quadrupled between 1939 and 1942, as slave-laborers from across Europe, Jews, political prisoners, criminals, homosexuals, gypsies, the mentally ill and others were incarcerated, generally without judicial process. Holocaust scholars draw a distinction between concentration camps and extermination camps, which were established by the Nazis for the industrial-scale mass murder of the predominantly Jewish ghetto and concentration camp populations. After September 1939, with the beginning of the Second World War, concentration camps became places where millions of ordinary people were enslaved as part of the war effort, often starved, tortured and killed. During the War, new Nazi concentration camps for "undesirables" spread throughout the continent. According to statistics by the German Ministry of Justice, about 1200 camps and subcamps were run in countries occupied by Nazi Germany, while the Jewish Virtual Library estimates that the number of Nazis camps was closer to 15000 in all of occupied Europe and that many of these ...

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Here is Germany was a 1945 propaganda documentary film directed by Frank Capra. Like its companion film, Know Your Enemy: Japan, the film is a full-length exploration of why one of the two major Axis countries started World War II and what had to be done to keep them from "doing it again". The film opens with scenes of everyday life in Germany, described by narrator Walter Huston. It shows people such as housewives, mailmen, farmers and policemen at work, and notes that these people were not so different than us, and seem like people Americans can understand. Anthony Veiller then interrupts with "Or can we?", as the film then switches to a montage of Nazi concentration camps and piles of dead bodies. The narrator notes that this is not the only time that Germany has unleashed war on the world, stating that while its generation fought the "Nazis", its fathers fought the "Huns" (pejorative term for Germany during World War I), and its grand father remembers the "Prussians". The narrator claims that its was all part of the same German lust for conquest. Going even further back 150 years, the film informs us that while America, Britain, and France were forming their democratic traditions, Germany was a group of 300 medieval feudal states, not one of them with a constitution or parliament. The film traces the rise of Prussia from Frederick the Great through Bismarck, telling the audience that the Prussian state was dominated first by ...

Behind him to his right one of our tank destroyers received a direct hit and began to burn. Its crew withdrew to the woods. Lieutenant Murphy continued to direct artillery fire which killed large numbers of the advancing enemy infantry. With the enemy tanks abreast of his position, Lieutenant Murphy climbed on the burning tank destroyer which was in danger of blowing up any instant and employed its .50 caliber machine gun against the enemy. He was alone and exposed to the German fire from three sides, but his deadly fire killed dozens of Germans and caused their infantry attack to waver. This is probably the most impressive available guncam footage available of a cannon armed JU87. Although NOT stated in the footage the Stukas mounting these guncams were part of a experimental combat unit named " Panzerjagdkommando Weiss" (Tank hunting commando Weiss) which had Ulrich Rudel assigned to it as commander. They were taken in February 1943 at the Black Sea in Russia, during the battle of the Kuban Bridgehead. The Stukas are D-3 models NOT G-2 models mounting two large caliber BK (Bordkanone) 3.7cm AT guns. Famous for their tank killing capabilities their first REAL use was against Soviet shipping and landing craft in Feb. 43. Rudel alone destroying over 70 of these vehicles in this month. Guncam footage is from this unit. Cannon armed Stukas (then designated G-1) were only send to regular squadrons in October 43. The footage itself is most impressive. The sensible fuzes of the high-explosive 3.7 shells (used during these attacks) get triggered just by hitting the water resulting in HUGE fountains of water..1-2 hits were enough to blow up a landing craft...anyway..see for yourself .. turn speakers up and enjoy.

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Battle of San Pietro is a 1945 documentary film directed by John Huston about the Battle of San Pietro Infine during World War II. It was shot by Jules Buck. The film is unflinching in its realism and was held up from being shown to the public by the United States Army. Huston quickly became unpopular with the Army, not only for the film but also for his response to the accusation that the film was anti-war. Huston responded that if he ever made a pro-war film, he should be shot. Because it showed dead GIs wrapped in mattress covers, some officers tried to prevent troopers in training from seeing it, for fear of morale. General George Marshall came to the film's defense, stating that because of the film's gritty realism, it would make a good training film. The depiction of death would inspire them to take their training seriously. Subsequently the film was used for that purpose. Huston was no longer considered a pariah; he was decorated and made an honorary major. In 1991, The Battle of San Pietro was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." The Battle of San Pietro Infine (commonly referred to as the "Battle of San Pietro") was a major engagement from 8--17 December 1943, in the Italian Campaign of World War II involving Allied Forces attacking from the south against heavily fortified positions of the German ...

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) were the military aviation arm of the United States of America during and immediately after World War II. It was a component of the United States Army, divided functionally by executive order in 1942 into three autonomous forces: the Army Ground Forces, the Services of Supply (which in 1943 became the Army Service Forces), and the AAF. Each of these forces had a commanding general who reported directly to the Chief of Staff of the United States Army. The AAF controlled all parts of military aviation formerly distributed among the Air Corps, General Headquarters Air Force, and ground forces corps area commanders, and thus became the first air organization of the US Army to control its own installations. The direct precursor to the United States Air Force, its peak size was over 2.4 million men and women in service and nearly 80000 aircraft in 1944, and 783 domestic bases in December 1943. By VE Day it had 1.25 million men stationed overseas and operated from more than 1600 airfields worldwide. The Air Corps became the Army Air Forces in June 1941 to provide the air arm a greater autonomy in which to expand more efficiently, and to provide a structure for the additional command echelons required by a vastly increased force. Although other nations already had separate air forces independent of the army or navy (such as the British Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe), the USAAF ...

The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) (Kyūjitai: Shinjitai: Dai-Nippon Teikoku Kaigun or Nippon Kaigun), officially Navy of the Greater Japanese Empire, also known as the Japanese Navy was the navy of the Empire of Japan from 1869 until 1947, when it was dissolved following Japan's constitutional renunciation of the use of force as a means of settling international disputes. It was the third largest navy in the world by 1920 behind the United States Navy and Royal Navy. It was supported by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service for aircraft and airstrike operation from the fleet.

Review and shooting test of the .30 M1 Carbine, a 1943 Inland-General Motors model. I included a segment with close-ups to view the condition of the rifle in detail and any markings. Shooting segments are at 100 yards on steel targets and include a picture-in-picture aspect of the target camera. In the video, I cited the M1's use in WW2, but it was also a standard in Korea, and according to my research, very early stages in Vietnam. Based on the condition of this rifle at the time of purchase, I suspect it had not been fired in several years, although I could be wrong. The rifling is in very good condition, and there wasn't even the hint of smell of burned powder or cleaning solvents. Just a dry, old rifle that possibly had been sitting in someone's collection for nostalgic purposes. There were just over 6 million M1's produced from 1941 to 1945. Obviously, many have been lost or destroyed. These are becoming more difficult to find in good condition, and prices are triple what they were 20 years ago when I first had the desire to acquire an M1. It is also great to see the M1 gaining somewhat of a cult status with the current generation based on its inclusion in POV video games. The only element I might add to this rifle is a sling, that's it. No plans to add optics or convert it to a folding stock model. I like it the way it is, and plan for the M1 to be a permanent item in my collection. There will be additional videos shooting the M1 at various distances, and it will ...

DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Prelude to War was the first film of Frank Capra's Why We Fight propaganda film series, commissioned by the Office of War Information (OWI) and George C. Marshall. It was made to convince American troops of the necessity of combating the Axis Powers during World War II. The film was based on the idea that those in the service would be more willing and able fighters if they knew the background and reason for their participation in the war. It was later released to the general American public as a rallying cry for support of the war. In an edit added to the film before public release, a comment by Henry L. Stimson, the Secretary of War at the time, was quoted to create trust with the audience, "the purpose of these films is to give factual information as to the causes, the events leading up to our entry into the war and the principles for which we are fighting." The purpose of the OWI was to use mass communication to sell the war and to define our perception of the reality of war; therefore, they released Prelude to War to further these goals. The film commences with an explanation of how Americans were brought into the war through heroic motives to protect countries unable to protect themselves. America had this duty to righteousness and Christian values throughout history, according to the values and beliefs set forth by the founding fathers. The documentary makes use of compare and contrast methods throughout the film in order to ...

A fun clip showing the firing of a newly restored WW2-era German 88mm flak (anti-aircraft) gun. The gun tractor (Hanomag half track) and the 88mm gun are both owned and based here in New Zealand. Well done to the restoration team in Blenheim (Dave Lochead, Tim Babb, Craig Keown, Reece Duncan and Roger Lauder) for getting this superb piece of historic military hardware up and running (firing) again. Please note, the barrel on this gun had been previously rendered useless by having a piece cut out of the side. The restoration team 'corrected' this problem such that the gun can now be fired with blank rounds. However, the barrel will NEVER be strong enough to use blank rounds explosive enough to produce a realistic recoil effect. While the current effect isn't 100% realistic (ie little or no recoil) it's as close as it will ever be possible to get with this particular 88. By 1938 Japan had gained control of the Chinese coastline occupying the major cities and driving the remaining Nationalist and Communist forces into the western provinces of the country. Organised Chinese resistance from that time became dependent on American aid and supplies reaching the Chinese via the overland supply route through Burma, known as the Burma Road. The Japanese invasion of Burma in December of 1941 was primarily intended to strangle weakening Chinese resistance by capturing the western end of the Burma Road. Reinforcing their offensive in the early months of 1942 the Japanese drove British and Chinese forces in steady retreat through central Burma towards the Indian frontier, capturing Rangoon in March and cutting the Burma Road by the end of April. The road was to remain closed from this time until February 1945. Supplies to the Chinese were transported by air from airfields in India across the towering Himalayas to Kunming in China. The air route to Kunming was to become known as the Aluminium Trail because of the litter of crashed aircraft that marked its way through the mountains. Throughout these years the reconquest of Burma was to take a lower priority than other theatres of the war, but in India preparations were made for an Allied counter-offensive in 1944. Lord Louis Mountbatten became Supreme Commander in South-east Asia. General Stillwell, his deputy, was appointed to train and command Chinese troops in India. By 1944 the Allies had ...

Tiger I (listen (help·info)) is the common name of a German heavy tank of World War II. The initial official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausführung H (abbreviated PzKpfw VI Ausf. H, Ausführung is German for "version") but the tank was redesignated as Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E in March 1943. The tank also had the ordnance inventory designation SdKfz 181. The Tiger I was in use from late 1942 until the German surrender in 1945. It was given its "Tiger" nickname by Ferdinand Porsche (the roman numeral was added after the Tiger II was produced). The design served as the basis for other armoured vehicles, the Sturmtiger heavy self-propelled gun and the Bergetiger amoured recovery vehicle.

An unmanned miniature tank, the Goliath carried a 2OOlb explosive charge for the destruction of bunkers and armoured vehicles by remote control. It was towed to the area of action on a small trailer. Early models of the Goliath were powered by two battery-driven auto starter motors, one motor to each track. Later models were powered by a Zundapp two-stroke engine. The Goliath had a maximum speed of 12 mph and a range of 650 yards. It was guided and detonated by trailing wires, the controller sending electrical signals to vary the speed of each track and so steer the weapon. The Goliath was not a success, primarily because its tracks were vulnerable to small arms fire. It was used for the most part on the Eastern front, but a few were deployed at Anzio in Italy and in France during the Battle of Normandy.

Combat footage. German Wartime Newsreel (Die Deutsche Wochenschau). Operation Edelweiss (German: Edelweiß), named after one of the best-known European mountain flowers, was a German plan to gain control over the Caucasus and capture the oil fields of Baku during the Soviet-German War. The operation was authorised by Hitler on July 23, 1942. The main forces included Army Group A commanded by Wilhelm List, 1st Panzer Army (Ewald von Kleist), 4th Panzer Army (Colonel-General Hermann Hoth), 17th Army (Colonel-General Richard Ruoff), part of the Luftflotte 4 (Generalfeldmarschall Wolfram Freiherr von Richthofen) and the 3rd Romanian Army (General Petre Dumitrescu). Army Group A was supported to the east by Army Group B commanded by Fedor von Bock and by the remaining 4th Air Fleet aircraft (1000 aircraft in all). The land forces, accompanied by 15000 oil industry workers, included 167000 troops, 4540 guns and 1130 tanks. The starting point of the operation on the Krasnodar-Pyatigorsk-Maikop line was reached on August 10, 1942. On August 16 the battalion commanded by von Hirschfeld made a feint and reached the Kadar Gorge. On August 21 a Nazi flag was installed on Mount Elbrus, the highest point of the Caucasus.

thefilmarchive.org World War II, or the Second World War (often abbreviated as WWII or WW2), was a global military conflict lasting from 1939 to 1945, which involved most of the world's nations, including all of the great powers: eventually forming two opposing military alliances, the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million military personnel mobilised. In a state of "total war," the major participants placed their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities at the service of the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by significant events involving the mass death of civilians, including the Holocaust and the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare, it was the deadliest conflict in human history, resulting in 50 million to over 70 million fatalities. The war is generally accepted to have begun on 1 September 1939, with the invasion of Poland by Germany and Slovakia, and subsequent declarations of war on Germany by France and most of the countries of the British Empire and Commonwealth. Germany set out to establish a large empire in Europe. From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns and treaties, Germany conquered or subdued much of continental Europe; amid Nazi-Soviet agreements, the nominally neutral Soviet Union fully or partially occupied and annexed territories of its six European neighbours. Britain and the Commonwealth remained the only major force ...

In 1942, the Luftwaffe, aware of the development of a long-range rocket by the German army, began intensive development of a rival weapon, a ramjet Flying Bomb.
