The Wailers - Out Of Our Tree

-1965 US - Lyrics: "Out, runnin' around/Seein' every crazy sight A lady in a evenin' gown/Made from a paper kite We asked her why/She wore such a crazy gown She said if ya wanna fly/Ya gotta get off the ground Don't know what we hear an' see/Hey, we gotta be... Out of our tree Out of our tree Out of our tree Ran a little ways more/And we happened to meet A man building a door/Right in the middle of the street We asked him why/He did such a crazy thing He said if ya wanna get by/The doorbell ya hafta ring Don't know what we hear an' see/Hey, we gotta be... Out of our tree Out of our tree Out of our tree Two dogs and a cat/Diggin through a garbage can/ Out jumped a Rat/ Dog and Cat they ran Now everything we see/We don't try to figure out We know that it just can't be/But it's happenin' without a doubt Don't know what we hear an' see/Hey, we gotta be... Out of our tree Out of our tree Out of our tree

Bunny Wailer - Crucial

A sufferer's song done up dancehall style, "Crucial's insistent rhythm, chanted litany of woes, and subtly infectious chorus, quickly proves contagious. Certainly the right wing Jamaican Labour Party (JLP) heard the possibilities, and used it - without Bunny Wailer's permission - for the campaign song.Incidentally, their opponents, the People's National Party (PNP) did the same to Bob Marley and his "Bad Card".In fact in the early Seventies, The Wailers had been keen PNP supporters, and campaigned on the party's behalf in the run- up to their election in 1972. By 1980, however, all three were entirely disillusioned not just with the PNP but with Jamaican politics across the board. That year saw the worst election violence in the island's history, with over a thousand citizens murdered in the run-up (some sources go as high as 1400), and all the while "Crucial" and "Bad Card" blasted from opposite sides of the political divide.Ironically enough, Bunny's song was selected in order to illustrate the PNP's failed policies, his suffering meant to represent that of the entire island. Ironic, because upon winning the election the JLP instituted a sweeping program of free market "reforms" that swiftly threw tens of thousands out of work, raised prices on staple goods beyond the ability of most to pay for them, and dumped much of the population into even deeper poverty where they've remained ever since.

See Music Videos www.bvmtv.com that you CAN'T See on You Tube! +Live Chat +Comment + Embed & More! In 1963, Bob Marley, Bunny Livingston, Peter McIntosh, Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith formed a ska and rocksteady group, calling themselves "The Teenagers". They later changed their name to "The Wailing Rudeboys", then to "The Wailing Wailers", at which point they were discovered by record producer Coxsone Dodd, and finally to "The Wailers". By 1966, Braithwaite, Kelso, and Smith had left The Wailers, leaving the core trio of Marley, Livingston, and McIntosh. In 1966, Marley married Rita Anderson, and moved near his mother's residence in Wilmington, Delaware in the United States for a short time, during which he worked as a DuPont lab assistant and on the assembly line at a Chrysler plant, under the alias Donald Marley.[11] Upon returning to Jamaica, Marley became a member of the Rastafari movement, and started to wear his trademark dreadlocks (see the religion section for more on Marley's religious views).

Together again The buildup to this historic concert film is nearly as exciting as the actual spectacle of the sole surviving Wailer working out on the stage of NYC's famous Madison Square Garden arena. By 1986, the year of this concert, both Bob Marley and Peter Tosh were gone, and Wailer had not been seen abroad in at least 10 years, reportedly because of a fear of flying. Very few artists can make their comeback in a venue of this size, but Wailer played to a packed house, and what a show it must have been. This video does get off to a laughably lame start, with Wailer appearing in a burst of smoke amidst other cheesy special effects, but there's nothing comical about the canon of songs from which he draws in the show proper. The viewer can't help but wonder at the serendipitous stroke of fate that brought Wailer, Marley, and Tosh together, because as this performance video proves (along with the many of Bob Marley and the few of Peter Tosh), each was a songwriter and performer of genius. Rockin' Robin Roberts & The Wailers - "Louie Louie" (1961)

Lawrence Fewell Roberts II was born on November 23, 1940 in New York City. He moved to the Pacific Northwest as a child, his family settling in Tacoma, Washington. He started his singing career in the late '50s with Little Bill and the Blue Notes, but the Wailers quickly stole him away as a featured vocalist. In 1960, Rockin' Robin Roberts happened upon a copy of a 45 by Richard Berry in a record-shop bargain bin. He played the flip-side, a song called "Louie Louie", and liked it enough to add it to the band's live act -- blunting the Latin/calypso-influence and turning it into an all-out rock 'n' roll song for the first time. Roberts would eventually record "Louie Louie" with the Wailers, shrieking the immortal ad-lib "Let's give it to 'em, RIGHT NOW!!", which was to become such an integral part of the eventual hit version. Robin was in the Marine Reserves from 1962 to 1967. He graduated from University of Puget Sound in 1964, and attended Oregon State University, working on a Biochemistry degree, from fall of 1965 through the summer of 1967. He then moved to San Francisco and worked for Crown Cork & Seal Company. Robin Roberts was killed in an automobile accident early in the morning of Dec. 22, 1967, in San Mateo County. He was the passenger in a car going the wrong way on the divided freeway. RIP Rockin' Robin "Let's give it to 'em, RIGHT NOW!!" For entertainment purposes only. No copyright infringement intended. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe. "Marley wasn't singing about how peace could come easily to the World but rather how hell on Earth comes too easily to too many. His songs were his memories; he had lived with the wretched, he had seen the downpressers and those whom they pressed down." -- Mikal Gilmore, Rolling Stone Magazine[33] Bob Marley & the Wailers was a reggae band created in 1974 by Bob Marley, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the precursor band, The Wailers.
