Black Friday 2011: The 99 percent fight over 4gb Memory Cards (FOR REALS)

ORIGINAL VIDEO HERE: www.youtube.com There is some sync issue here that is corrected if you click on the link above. Walmart Oakland, Nov. 25th, 11:57 PM. aka the "Oakland 4gb Memory Card Riot" A deranged mob erupts over 2$ 4gb memory cards and a few (very few) 50$ Kodak cameras. BY POPULAR DEMAND THE A SPEED METAL "MOSH" VERSION IS HERE: www.youtube.com (MUST SEE! ) About the title "the 99 percent". I think the video is basically just funny, but I was trying to shed a little light on how absurd the inequality is in this country. ie: the poor are grappling for table scraps (literally here) just to be first in line to pay the rich (Walmart and it's shareholders). It's definitely not intended as a dig on occupy movement or on the poor. But looks like a few racist winguts are using this video and it's title as some sort of exemplar to rally against both the poor and the "99 percent". Whatever. (All racist comments will get reported and eventually deleted anyway.) The only reason the majority are black here is that this is Walmart Oakland, a mostly black community. Believe me white people were moshing the hell out of Walmarts in Iowa and Idaho, they just didn't have me on hand to film it. -;) Enjoy the vid!

Midnight Madness at Urban Outfitters - Black Friday

So guys, this video captures some of the insanity, but it does not capture it all. You cannot see the the hundreds of people waiitng around the corners of our store banging madly at the windows. You cannot really see the multitudes waiting in front of Old Navy, but not to get into Old Navy, but to get into our store. You cannot see the line barricades and fixtures come crashing down as people run into our store. You cannot see the ornament x-mas streets booming to the floor either and hear the crashes of ornaments breaking. You cannot hear them chanting "We love urban!" Again, this only captures some of the madness. THe first two hours all we heard was crash, boom, bang. Trying to the control the cashwrap line was intense, since there was no line and the whole back of the store consisted of people pushing almost trampling me, to pay. I wish I had video of that also. People were climbing on top of our displays, cabinets etc. Seriously people, we need to get our priorities straight.

BLACK FRIDAY SHOPPING MADNESS 2011 CROWD AT WALMART

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early, often at 4 am, or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many Commonwealth Nations. Black Friday is not actually a holiday, but some non-retail employers give their employees the day off, increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005,[1] although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate,[2] have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time.[3] The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving.[4] Use of the term started before 1966 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation began to be offered: that "Black Friday" indicates the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or are "in the black".[5] For many years, it was common for retailers to open at 6:00, but in the late 2000s, many had crept to 5:00 or even 4:00. This was taken to a new extreme in 2011, when several retailers (including Target, Kohls, Macy's, Best Buy, and Bealls) opened at midnight for the first time. Ridiculous Black Friday Madness at Walmart 2011

Went to a Walmart (Wheeling, IL) on Black Friday with a friend. He wanted an HD TV and also wanted to get batman Arkham City. I decided to help him out and stand by the 360 game box while he waited in line for a TV. It was extremely populated with very few games in it and well... it got extremely crazy and things got out of hand. Everyone started shoving when they started cutting the wrap around the box off and it got ugly real quickly. The game box tipped over off its wooden stand and the crowd just went all over it. Needless to say I got hurt and a bit shaken up from this experience and I wouldn't be surprised if others were injured as well. It wasn't worth risking my life (getting trampled, pushed, and punched) over video games. I decided to pull back and just film the madness and put it on YouTube. I hope Walmart does things differently next year because this was just ridiculous. This was my first Black Friday experience and my last. :( Jason

Starting at 5:00 am on Friday, November 26, 2010, deep discounts on a variety of products are expected, including on high-end items like televisions, electronics, computers and more. While planning ahead is a common strategy before heading out for Black Friday shopping, in the past, Wal-Mart has been quite controlling in terms of leaking their ad prior to the Sunday before Thanksgiving. BlackFriday.info, among other sites, received a pre-emptive cease-and-decist letter from Wal-Mart attorneys threatening action should the site post the Black Friday flyer before its official release on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Despite sending a similar warning to websites in recent years, Wal-Mart did in fact leak their sale ad to CNN almost a week before the official release date in 2009. One thing is known for sure, the 2010 Wal-Mart sales will feature a wider variety of discounts as compared to previous years. In October 2010, Wal-Mart CEO Bill Simon told investors that the company is "looking for improved results during the holidays," citing "the addition of items to its product mix." Analysts believe that to mean Wal-Mart will add deep discounts on everyday ...

Walmart - California - Black Friday fights at the Video Game Carnage

This video was taken at the Walmart in Porter Ranch, CA on November 24th, 2011 during the store's Black Friday sales. What you're seeing is a clip taken of a group of shoppers ripping and tearing at each other and a kiosk to get their hands on discounted Xbox 360 games. During the mayhem, one woman thought she was going to be robbed, so she pulled out her pepper spray and blasted the crowd. From my understanding another girl was shot directly in the face with the spray. You can see the Security guards escorting the girl in a white shirt away from the area at the end of the video. All this for a few video games....

Wal-Mart Black Friday 2010, The Middle of Madness - LINE JUMPER!!!

In this video, taken at about 12:10 AM on Wal-Mart's Black Friday Sale in Frankfort, KY I am just recording some of the Madness. The crazy part it, a woman comes into this video with dark hair, a striped shirt and a dark coat and talks to the lady at the register. The worker tells her that all 39 spots for a laptop had been filled. I didn't pay any attention to her, until later she sat down next to the people in the very front of the line saying that she was just waiting for her husband. Well, we had become suspicious of her and let the worker know of the situation with the lady because we figured she was lying. Later, we got our bracelets and never really paid any attention to the lady. After we get our other shopping done and return to the line to sit until 5AM to pick up our laptop there are still customers complaining about not getting a bracelet. There were line jumpers. We had asked and found out the lady in the video was one of the line jumpers who snuck in and got a bracelet. The only reason she got a bracelet was because someone came in to relieve the worker we had warned about the woman possibly being a line jumper. Well, sure enough around 4:45 AM before they start handing out the laptops we see this lady returning to the line with a bracelet. We let the workers and management know about what happened but they did nothing. They only said that if she had a bracelet there was nothing they could do but give her the laptop. There were several of us reporting this ...
