Our flash mob is a mixture of dance and drama which aims to convey to our audience the disadvantages of smoking. We were inspired by West Side Story where two opposing gangs reconcile their differences. Similarly, a group of smokers are agitated by the vibrant dancing of perky non-smokers and see their dancing as a challenge. The stark contrast between the smokers and the non-smokers are shown through their appearances, dance moves and even song choice. Smokers wear dark colours and bedraggled clothes as they have less spending power and a less than pleasant appearance, while the non-smokers wear pink/yellow/bright colours to highlight their youthful glow. It is also common for teen smokers to start smoking because they think it is 'cool'. This mindset is shown in the smokers' exaggerated and punk moves but is eventually defeated when the non-smokers imitate their style and pull it off better. Our choreography aims to show how non-smokers are more vibrant, through a basketball number where the smokers become listless as they are not as fit and alert. The two groups originally meet in the middle of the canteen (venue of flash mob) where the dance-off commences. Non-smokers are shown to be more superior as their dancing intimidates the smokers as they back away. Smoke produced by cigarettes are a threat to the environment and health of people around smokers and this will also be shown through dance steps that will ignite reactions from the audience which show their <b>...</b>
