
A Non-Californian's Guide to the Whacky World of California Water: A Video Primer (19:32) Ok, Californian's, this video is not for you (but please watch, anyway). This video is for the rest of America. It's for your family and friends who don't live in The Golden State. This video is was made to counter the misinformation, that since 2009 has been spewing from supposedly respectable national media about the state's water crisis and agriculture. To understand why we've made this video, do this little exercise and see for yourself what answers you get. Ask a non-Californian if they know anything about problems facing California agriculture. Phrase the question anyway you'd like, We think the answer you'll get is that farmers in California are suffering because (radical) environmentalists are trying to save a two-inch fish, forcing the government to turn off irrigation water. They might add that farmers are going bankrupt, farm fields are being fallowed, and food prices are going to go up because of this madness. Go ahead, test our thesis. The reality is, of course, much more complex. But two years of intentional distortions takes a toll on the truth. Add grandstanding politicians and sloppy reporting by news organizations that should know better and you have an American population with incomplete information at best, or misinformation at worst.
