The operating system is very different from Windows 7 and is in the right direction for what people want these days. Looking at the visuals of this system it looks much like the Windows Phone 7 with it's interface and how it's used. You'll see that the applications show up in a sliding display with icons just like Windows Phone 7 and can become interactive icons. At the announcement yesterday Windows 8 Developer Preview was giving to everyone at the announcement on a tablet, Microsoft seems to be looking into making a unified operating system that will work across computers and tablets. I enjoyed the developer preview and can't wait to see what Microsoft has in store for the final release.

Windows 8 features the new touch-enabled Metro interface, a dramatic departure from the traditional desktop user interface. Metro makes extensive use of dynamically updating tiles similar to Windows Phone 7, and is optimized for touch screens, although it can be used with a keyboard and mouse. MS is betting that touch screens will be universal for both desktop and mobile devices, in contrast with Apple. Windows 8 is something of a one-size-fits-all approach, in which all hardware platforms, desktop, laptop, and tablet, are required to support the full Win 8 OS, with built in support for the conventional Windows desktop. It remains to be seen whether this is really viable for ultra low power ARM devices, which don't have the computing power of even Intel Atoms. ARM development for Win 8 appears to be lagging, and most of the demos were run on Intel based systems.

I tested Windows 8 Developer Preview over Parallels 6 for Mac. As has some preconfigured tabs that provide one click access to basic interest of individuals, Windows 8 seems to be totally reconfigured to its interface. I loved the idea of accessing particular stuff from Pre-Desktop mode. The graphics and acceleration is pretty amazing after I tried setting up screen resolution and providing 4GB Memory against initial 1GB configuration. In the beginning, may it seem little sluggish, but as the system seeks initial phoning home and downloading basics, Windows 8 rocks. Aero, what was introduced with Windows 7, might not be with the same name here, but I would like to call it graphic acceleration, rocks as you keep moving ahead.

I installed Windows 8 Developer Preview on my Microsoft Surface 1.0 device a little over one day from when the Win8 preview was released publicly at the Build conference. I used MultiTouchVista from multitouchvista.codeplex.com to convert the Surface vision system contacts to Windows 8 HID touch input. (This technique also works on Windows 7.) Parallels in Mac had problems, as well as other virtual programs, as reported all over Twitter. I highly recommend Boot Camp if you have a Mac!
