The first Windows 8 video, that Microsoft posted on June 2 on YouTube, offered a sneak peek of the touch interface of the upcoming Microsoft operating system. It caused quite the confusion, as many viewers assumed that the operating system would look like that on their desktop PC as well. From what we could gather, there will be a standard desktop interface available as well, with possibilities to switch between the interfaces. We will know more about this when the public Windows 8 beta is released by Microsoft. The four minute video was welcome, considering that it offered the first live footage of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system. Later that day, a demonstration was held at the Computex 2011 in Taiwan by Mike Angiulo, Microsoft corporate vice president which showcased the new operating system for more than 30 minutes. One of the important roles Windows plays as part of a broad ecosystem is developing support for new hardware. This is a pretty involved process and so for this post we wanted to take a look at supporting USB 3.0, something we know everyone is anxious to be using because of the improvements it brings. With throughput up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 and improved power management that results in longer battery life, USB 3.0 introduces compelling reasons to improve the world's most popular PC interface. By 2015, all new PCs are expected to offer USB 3.0 ports, and over 2 billion new "SuperSpeed" USB devices will be sold in that year alone. The decision to invest in USB 3.0 was an easy one to make, but doing so without compromising the existing USB ecosystem was a big challenge to overcome. Our design had to follow the revised 3.0 specification precisely in order to enable emerging USB 3.0 hardware. There are also billions of older USB devices that Windows must remain compatible with. USB 3.0 includes a new host controller and defined the new "SuperSpeed" USB device (5 Gbps). Together, the controller and device could operate at theoretical speeds of up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. With this new standard, you'd be able to copy a high definition movie from a USB storage drive in about 80 seconds instead of the 15 minutes it takes with USB 2.0. The exact model I'm reviewing is the 1070ca, on loan to me for a few weeks from HP Canada. The exact model and configuration will change depending on where you are in the world, but the basics are the same. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, this model has an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 running at 1.3 Ghz, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (up to 8 GB is supported), 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, and a 12.1" HP LED BrightView display at 1280 x 800 resolution. The screen is multi-touch capable, and you can use either the pen or your fingers to interact with it. There's a 5 in 1 memory card reader, a Webcam (1.3 megapixels most likely), Altec Lansing speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and a 6-cell battery.

Hello, Today I will be showing you the Asus G53SW-XA1. This notebook is a 15.6" Gaming Laptop made by Asus and features the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M which is a high-end mobile PC graphics card. This GPU combined with the 2630QM by Intel and the 8GB of 1333MHz Ram = a very capable gaming and editing machine! The notebook feels very well built when handling and in use. A very cool feature of this notebook is the awesome cooling it has. It features two very large intake/out-take ports on the back. But.. with all these good things. Their is something I do not like about this laptop. It comes with a lot of bloat-ware! Not a huge complaint, but, it is something you will need to take care of. Also, the battery is horrible on this machine. MAX I get is 2 1/2 hours... if even that. And then there is the chance of getting a faulty Sandy Bridge processor. Which, unfortunately.
