Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Paint - Felled Tree at Castaway Island Park - Gary Garrett Painting Demo

Please click on "WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY". This was an experiment with Winson & Newton's Artisan water mixable oil paints on an 8x10 canvas panel in my studio. They are real oils using a saffron-linseed oil base. They stay wet while painting, so you can really manipulate the image. on this one, I used rolled paper "smear sticks" like I use in oil pastels and a utility knife blade to scrape through the paint for really fine detail. The paint stays wet for 1-2 days, dry to the touch (still a little smearable) in 3-4 days, and varnishable in a few weeks. Also, they do NOT have the traditional oil paint smell which my wife is grateful for... actually no smell at all unless you put you nose smack up to it. I purchased these at my local Hobby Lobby store with a 40% off internet coupon, so the cost of the 10-tube set was around $20. I have now found these paints sold in larger tube sizes can purchase individual colors. Here's a link to Winsor & Newton website for more info: www.winsornewton.com This photo was shot in March 2008 of a tree felled by Hurricane Francis at Castaway Island park along the shores of the Intracoastal Waterway in Jacksonville FL. The tree is still alive, just toppled over. the exposed roots have died and are weathering, but there is still enough of its root system in place to keep the tree going. Thank you for joining me in this experiment with a new medium, and thanks for watching... as always "STAY CREATIVE AND KEEP PAINTING" If you like this video or ...

Rushing Branch Creek at sunset - Winsor & Newton Water Mixable Oil Paint - Gary Garrett painting Oil on Canvas panel Demo

Click on "WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY" - 8x10 canvas panel painted in the studio Aug 7, 2008 using Winsor & Newton Water Mixable Oil Colours - experiment #3. This is painted from a photo I shot on the way home from our August 2, 3008 paintout with FCPAP. It's the Rushing Branch Creek from the bridge that connects Alta and Yellow Bluff Roads. This experiment uses BOB ROSS' LIQUID WHITE as a base under the painting which I almost forgot to apply... LOL ( a REAL senior moment there!!). It appears to double the drying time... after two days of drying some areas are still wet to the touch, but it allows easier blending. This was DV taped using a Sony TRV25 camera set on interval mode at 1 sec every 30 seconds. If you like this video, please RATE it and/or leave a COMMENT. Your comments help me to understand what you would like to see from me. Winsor McCay's THE SINKING OF THE LUSITANIA (Silent Animation 1918)

The Sinking of the Lusitania, released in 1918, is an animated short film by American artist Winsor McCay. It features a short 12 minute explanation of the sinking of RMS Lusitania after it was struck by two torpedoes fired from a German U-boat. The film was one of many animated silent films published to create anti-German sentiment during World War I. McCay illustrated some 25000 drawings for the production. The film is stylized as a documentary, informing viewers on details from the actual event, including a moment by moment recap, casualty list, and a list of prominent figures who were killed.

Winsor McCay - Gertie the Dinosaur (1914) Complete Part I

One of the world's first animated films. It was the first to be created using keyframe animation. Gertie the Dinosaur was originally created to be used in McCay's vaudeville performances, as a sideline to his regular newspaper cartooning. In 1911, McCay began presenting animated films on stage. Plans for Gertie were announced in 1912. The first presentation of the film was at the Palace Theater in Chicago on February 8, 1914; later performances were at the Hammerstein Theater in New York City. McCay's employer, William Randolph Hearst, was displeased with McCay's success outside of the newspapers, and used his contractual power to reduce McCay's stage activities. In late 1914, William Fox offered to market Gertie the Dinosaur to moving-picture theaters. McCay accepted, and extended the film to include a live-action prologue and intertitles to replace his stage patter. This is the version of the film generally seen today; the original animation comprises roughly 5 minutes of the entire 12-minute film. Gertie the Dinosaur was produced before the introduction of later time-saving techniques such as cel animation. To create the film, McCay himself drew thousands of frames of Gertie on individual 6.5 x 8.5 inch sheets of rice paper. He hired neighbor and art student John A. Fitzsimmons to draw the backgrounds. Fitzsimmons carefully re-traced the rocks, lake and tree from a master drawing onto each sheet of rice paper. In creating the film, McCay came up with a number of ...

little nemo

This is an animated cartoon that Winsor Mccay drew 96 years ago. Mccay's having started the animated cartoon production had completed the first work 'Little Nimo' in October 1910. This volume of the first work is only two minutes or more, and the character of his popular work 'Little Nimo' is used. It is 3000 pieces or less, and the calculation is not suitable for taking full by one scene though Mccay is assumed that original pictures of 4000 a month were drawn in the record for two minutes or more either. Actual works might have been about one minute longer than these. Year of opening to the public is 1911.
