The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz (1910)

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1910) is the earliest surviving film version of L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel, made by the Selig Polyscope Company without Baum's direct input. It was created to fulfill a contractual obligation associated with Baum's personal bankruptcy caused by The Fairylogue and Radio-Plays, from which it was once thought to have been derived. It was partly based on the 1902 stage musical, though much of the film deals with the Wicked Witch of the West, who does not appear in the musical. The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz is in the public domain, and can be downloaded here for free: www.archive.org

Flying Monkeys attack

As a child, those flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz always scared the crap out of me. To this day, I'm still scared of flying monkeys. Fortunately, I have not encountered any. But, if I did, I'd be scared ... and so should you.

The Wizard of Oz

"There's no place like home..." Entirely remastered, the colorful characters and unforgettable songs of Oz come alive as never before. This magical cinematic event finds Kansas farm girl Judy Garland ("A Star is Born," "Meet Me in St. Louis") caught in a tornado and magically transported to the Land of Oz. Needing help to return home, she is told to follow the Yellow Brick Road and find the powerful Wizard (Frank Morgan). On her perilous journey, she is befriended by the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the Tin Man (Jack Haley), and the Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr) who help her battle the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) and her flying monkeys. Based on the classic book by Frank L. Baum, "The Wizard of Oz" is a dazzling motion picture achievement, featuring unforgettable songs (including Oscar-winner "Over the Rainbow"), scenery, and costumes. The film had 5 Academy Award nominations, and Garland was awarded a special Oscar for her outstanding performance. The Wizard of Oz (1982) (Part 1)

Now it is my pleasure to present my first FEATURE-LENGTH movie upload on YouTube. I saw that nobody has uploaded this, so I decided to. It is The Wizard of Oz, a 1982 Japan-animated film, but is only recorded in English. It stars Aileen Quinn (Annie) as Dorothy and Lorne Greene as The Wizard. Not to be confused with the 1939 MGM movie we all know so well, this is probably the most faithful adaption to L. Frank Baum's original story, although the red slippers are borrowed from the 1939 movie. Enjoy this movie. I'm sure for some of you, it will bring back memories. For those who have never seen this before, you're in for a treat. I really like this adaptation. I think you will, too. © 1982 TOHO Co.,Ltd

The Wizard of Oz (Silent - 1925)

After L. Frank Baum's death in 1919 and the publication of the last Oz book in 1920, L. Frank Baum Jr. sought to keep the series alive by teaming with comedian/director Larry Semon and newcomer Oliver Hardy. The result was the 1925 version of The Wizard of Oz which focuses on comedy rather than fantasy. Hardy would go on to pair with Stan Laurel and become half of the world's most beloved comic team. While different in tone than the Oz movies of a decade before, the 1925 Wizard of Oz reinvents the story of Dorothy, the scarecrow and the tin woodsman in a slapstick and humorous light. That's right: no Judy Garland, no little people and no songs.
