Classic Game Room reviews YARS REVENGE (remake) for PC from Killspace and Atari. This game has more in common with Space Harrier than Yars' Revenge but remains a cool game if you play the proper version.... try the Xbox 360 version instead of PC. Odd controls, awkward screen adjustment features and "forgettable" mouse support make this a sloppy PC game even if the game seems cool, the 360 version is supposed to be far more solid. Control Yar (now a chick with armor) with the left analog stick and aim her firing with the right, Yars Revenge has players doing two things at once. Stay alive, destroy enemies and rack up big points with a multiplier.

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of YARS' REVENGE for the Atari 2600 VCS video game console system! This is the best selling original title on the wood grained classic video game masterpiece and rightly so, revenge has never had it so good. This 2600 cartridge came with an awesome comic book called the Qotile Ultimatum and you played as a crazy insect called a Yar which flies around space and shoots laser beams and stuff. Yar's Revenge is a true classic retro arcade style old school video game from 1981 that never gets old and hasn't aged a day. This is priceless video gaming for those of us who grew up with Atari and should be exciting for new gamers today used to the next gen systems. Yars Revenge has incredible gameplay and the footage shows this. It is fun, entertaining and above all terribly addictive. Shoot the Zorlon cannon at the Qotile! CGRHD takes a somewhat more serious look at this cartridge that should be in every Atari collector's possession. The ultimate space action mutant insect warfare shooter game. This would be really great if they released it again on the PS3 or Xbox Live Arcade XBLA consoles with updated 2D graphics (not 3D). I still think Yars' Revenge would make a great movie or anime. You pilot Yars around in space and fight the evil, deceptive and ill tempered Quitile. Can you destroy the Zorlon cannon before it destroys you? Hide in the neutral zone, dodge the curser of doom and kick ass at this amazing retro old school classic arcade style video game. The gameplay is rock solid, the storyline is fantastic and the footage of this game will make you want to run out and add this Atari cartridge to your collection. Will we ever see an Atari movie about Yars' Revenge? It would be the best science fiction movie ever made and should be an upcoming film with a great trailer due to be released sometime in the near future. Assuming it was made well of course. The battle between the Yar and Qotile is still here and the weapons are must in any old galactic disagreement. Classic Game Room HD reviews ATARI ANTHOLOGY for Xbox, which also works on the Xbox 360 video game console. This amazing collection has dozens of Atari 2600 classic video games, as well as a number of arcade classics, all on one disc like Missile Command, Yars' Revenge, Swordquest Waterworld and Space War! The games play out in fabulous 1080i HDTV graphics and look better than they did on the Atari 2600 (although in many cases that may not be a good thing, but this is emulation and these are emulated Atari 2600 games and they still rock!) Instead of using the standard Atari 2600 single button, single joystick controller you play all of these Atari and arcade hits using your Xbox or Xbox 360 controller. Atari Anthology is also available for the Playstation 2 PS2 video game system although CGRHD has not reviewed that version. We do however like the Atari Anthology disc for Xbox and played it with our 360 and give it two hearty beers up. I amuploading a bunch of Gameroom vids onto Youtube simply because I was wishing there were some... The idea behind these videos is to show what a person that is thinking about purchasing the game for their arcade would need to be able to do to earn the gold medals. I was forced to buy sight unseen and only after a purchase; able to see the medal requirements. These vids are of my medal runs :) Hopefully, you will be able to gauge whether you'll be able to do it as well and be happier with your purchases :) Here's a run of Yars Revenge. I show a strategy for reaching both the Point Buster and Survivalist medals. Okay First, I way overshot the requirements on my first play through The easiest way to go about Survivalist is to wait inside the safety zone of the first level. Every 20 seconds, the Zoelick (spelled wrong I know) will fire. Be near the top of the screen and retreat off the top to the bottom as it fires. Retake your position and repeat till you have the required time under your belt For the score, just beat levels. You can take out every single cell first if you are so inclined, but the vid shows you how to keep taking them out and how to have done it with using enough time to satisfy survivalist gold I hope if helps I have another video showcasing how to waste time in Atari and Intelevision games (Gameroom Hour Awards)... There are three medals available for this cabinet :)
