Israel & Iran Sound Beyond Borders : Sari Gelim by Yuval Avital & Mohsen Mohammadi Mohsen and I know each other since 2007. We enjoy a deep friendship and a mutual respect and dialogue through music. In the year 2010, we decided to perform together in Italy in a musical dialogue that contained both traditional music and innovation. We decided to conclude the concert with the traditional song "Sari Gelim". It is a song which can be found in many versions all over West Central Asia; in many of its versions, it tells a sad story of love between a man and a woman that cannot be fulfilled because of difference of origin or faith between them. In the recent years, I have met fantastic Iranians who shared with me the beauty of their culture and listened with great attention to the stories I told them about Israel and Judaism. Sounds of violence, hatred and war can easily hide a sound of a guitar, a setar or a voice. Nonetheless, we as musicians stand in front of the news reports to share sounds beyond the borders of narrow perceptions of cultures and individuals. Living in peace is not a choice of weakness but a choice of strength, disconnecting the endless chain of violence, predators and victims and creating a new chain of mutual respect and nourishment; of dialogue that extends our perception life and reality. My love is not guaranteed to an individual thanks to his or her origins only but at the same time I don't hate someone just because he or she was born on the other side <b>...</b>

Former Agent Blasts Israeli Leaders: Yuval Diskin Criticises Netanyahu, Barak's Policies
The Israeli government has reacted to remarks by Israel's former spy chief Yuval Diskin, who blasted the country's leaders for formulating and pursuing policies on Iran on the basis of what he described as "messianic feelings". Israeli Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau: "In a democracy you always have differences of opinions, and you have different leaders having different approaches. Now, it is the political leadership not the professional military leadership that decides on these things. This is in any democracy. That's why I was so much surprised by the open manner by which people from the military establishment are carrying out a professional debate that should be handled within the proper forums." Government officials said Benjamin Netanyahu was constantly working to form an international front for the struggle against Iran, and described Diskin's words as irresponsible and a shame. Diskin was referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak, who have threatened to launch a pre-emptive war on Iran because of its nuclear programme. Other security veterans have come out against Netanyahu and Barak, but Diskin's criticism was especially strong. Israel's former spy chief Yuval Diskin: "I will tell you things that will be, perhaps, harsh. I have no faith in the prime minister, nor in the defence minister. Yuval is an international composer and record producer. He has been actively involved in creating musical bridges between people of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths. His ensemble, The Yuval Ron Ensemble includes Arabic, Israeli and Jewish musicians as well as Christian Armenian artists who unites the sacred musical traditions of Judaism, Sufism (Islamic mystical tradition) and the Armenian Church into an unusual mystical, spiritual and inspiring musical celebration. The ensemble was featured in the World Festival of Sacred Music in LA 2002 and 2005 and performed in numerous events worldwide. He composed scores for numerous TV programs and films including Proteus, Oliver Twist, The Spiral Staircase, Susie Q and Someone to Die For. He has done field recordings in the Sinai desert with the Bedouins and produced the record One Truth -- "a window into the divine passion and poetry of Sufism" with the Sufi master musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek. A recipient of multiple grants from National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation, the American Composers Forum, Mid Atlantic Arts and the California Council for the Humanities, Yuval has worked with the Moscow Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the LAJS Symphony, and the New Hampshire Philharmonic. In 1998 he released his first solo recording "In Between the Heartbeat" on Simulacra Records, followed by the CD "In the Shallows" in 2001. In light of the latest Israel Apache helicopter crash on the Israeli side of the Israel-Lebanon border, FOX News interviews Yuval Tal, former Israeli special operations of an elite IDF combat unit. Tal comments that if the six soldiers on board be attacked by Hezbollah militants, Israel will conduct a rescue mission into Lebanon. Tal further comments on the recent kidnapping of three Israeli soldiers and the prisoner exchange between Syria and Israel, stating that this situation is only a fraction of a larger dilemma. Dedicated to Pauline Oliveros, Performing Sergio Scappini, Michele Bracciali, Nadio Marenco, Giancarlo Calabria, Augusto Comminesi, Paolo Vignani. Music for seven n.6, is a part six compositions Avital had wrote to 7 identical instruments, each one dedicated to a musical figure that had influenced his path. titled also "Horror vacui" this composition explores stillness and movement in sound throughout sonic textures combined rhythms and repeating fragments. The composition, dedicated to foremost North American composer and accordionist Pauline Oliveros, is a journey of listening to a continuous musical landscape, which (as in its title) never stops but always changes. The leader and conductor of the ensemble is Sergio Scappini, a virtuoso of the accordion who has inspired many Italian composers such as Francesconi, Corghi and Einaudi to write new works for the instrument. Premiere : RomaEuropa Festival, Teatro Palladium, Rome, Italy, October 2011.
