South Africa's Agulhas 2, is in the final stages of construction in Finland, 21 December 2011

South Africa's Agulhas 2, is in the final stages of construction in Finland and is expected in Cape Town next year. The vessel will be the first of its kind in the world with it's myriad of capabilities. The ship will boost South Africa's research efforts in the southern polar region. It's predicessor, which served the country for over 30 years, has been retired after countless voyages to Antarctica, Marion Island and Gough Island.
