Later prominent female musicians include the band Balabil, who formed in the early 1970s and became very popular across East Africa. Skilled Musician- Muhammad Abu Ajaj playing the Eud
This video was shot in the Negev Desert. The Musicians name is Muhammad Abu Ajaj and he studied musicology at a University in Israel. He did his masters on Bedouin music. This instrument is called an Eud and it has 24 notes to the octave, although there are very few quarter tones used in this melody. After I shot this video he sat down and played some more. He said sitting stabalizes his posture and he so he played some melodies with quarter tones.
