Munich Königsplatz

www.ceepackaging.com http www.youtube.com The Koengisplatz in Munich was designed with the creation of the Brienner Straße at the command of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria by Karl von Fischer and laid out by Leo von Klenze. Klenze framed the square with the "Ionic" Glyptothek and the "Doric" Propylaea (Propyläen; created as memorial for the accession of Otto of Greece). The "Corinthian" State Museum of Classical Art was erected by Georg Friedich Ziebland, on its back St. Boniface's Abbey is situated. The Lenbachhaus is situated at the north-west side of the square. The area around Königsplatz is today the home to the Kunstareal, Munich's gallery and museum quarter. The Königplatz was used during the Third Reich as a field for the Nazi Party's mass rallies. The Brown House, the national headquarters of the Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) in Germany was located at 45 Brienner Straße close to the square. Two "Honor Temples" (Ehrentempel) were erected at the east side for the remains of the sixteen Nazis who died in the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch. Both temples were demolished in 1947, although their platforms remain to this day]. Two buildings of the Nazi party constructed by Paul Troost next to the temples still exist; in one of them, the Führerbau, the Munich Agreement was signed in 1938. Today it is a school for music and theatre called the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. My channel on you tube : www.youtube.com is one of themost prolific ...

Munich Brown House

www.facebook.com www.ceepackaging.com twitter @ceepackaging www.facebook.com The Brown House (German: Braunes Haus) was the national headquarters of the Nazi Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) in Germany. A large impressive stone structure, it was located at 45 Brienner Straße in Munich, Bavaria. It was named for the colour of the party uniforms. By 1930, party headquarters at Schellingstrasse 50 were too small (with the number of workers increasing from four in 1925 to 50 that year). In April 1930, Elizabeth Stefanie Barlow (widow of William Barlow, a British wholesale merchant) offered the Barlow Palace (built in 1828) for purchase to Franz Xaver Schwarz, party treasurer. A sales contract was signed on 26 May, with the purchase price of 805864 marks. Funds for renovation of party headquarters were provided by industrialist Fritz Thyssen. The house was converted from an urban villa to an office building by the architect Paul Troost. He and Adolf Hitler also re-decorated it in a heavy, anti-modern style. It opened on 1 January 1931. Adolf Hitler kept a life-size portrait of Henry Ford next to his desk in the Brown House since Ford and Adolf Hitler admired each other's achievements. Hitler maintained an office in the Brown House, as did Hans Frank, Heinrich Himmler , Hermann Göring, Rudolf Hess, Philipp Bouhler, and Franz Xaver Schwarz. Also stored there was the so-called Blutfahne, or "blood flag" or "blood banner." This was the Nazi flag that was ...

Bridge at Remagen - Die Brücke von Remagen

www.ceepackaging.com http www.youtube.com The Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen was a railway bridge across the Rhine in Germany, connecting the villages of Remagen and Erpel between two ridge lines of hills flanking the river. Remagen is situated about 20km south of Bonn. The bridge was built by Grün & Bilfinger[2] between 1916 and 1919 to connect the Right Rhine Railway, the Left Rhine Railway and the Ahrtalbahn (German) to facilitate transport to the Western Front. It was a key element of a planned strategic railway that was to start in Neuss, cross the Rhine at Remagen and connect with the Ahr Valley railway that connected with the Eiffel railway that has lines into Luxembourg and France. The advantage of such a line was that troops and supplies could be transported to the Western Front from the Ruhr industrial area without having to go through the busy rail centres of Cologne or Düsseldorf. However, by the time World War I ended, the line between Neuss and Remagen had not been completed and never was. This is also the reason why the bridge at Remagen was not rebuilt after World War II. Designed by Karl Wiener, it was 325 meters long, with two rail lines and a walkway. It was one of three bridges built to improve rail links between Germany and France during World War I, the other two being the Hindenburg Bridge at Bingen and Urmitz Bridge near Koblenz. This was one of the four bridges guarded during the Third United States Army occupation at the end of World War I. The ...

Get Carter film locations : part 1 analysis

www.ceepackaging.com http My analysis of the 1971 British cult crime thriller Get Carter. This is the beginning of a series of films showing the locations where the film was made. Get Carter is a 1971 British crime film directed by Mike Hodges and starring Michael Caine as Jack Carter, a gangster who sets out to avenge the death of his brother in a series of unrelenting and brutal killings played out against the grim background of derelict urban housing in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. The film was based on Ted Lewis' 1969 novel Jack's Return Home, itself inspired by the real life one-armed bandit murder in the north east of England. The film was Hodges' first as a director; he also wrote the script. The production went from novel to finished film in eight months, with location shooting in Newcastle and Gateshead lasting 40 days. It was produced by Michael Klinger and released by MGM. Get Carter was also Alun Armstrong's screen debut. In 1999, Get Carter was ranked 16th on the BFI Top 100 British films of the 20th century; five years later, a survey of British film critics in Total Film magazine chose it as the greatest British film of all time. Get Carter was remade in 2000 under the same title, with Sylvester Stallone starring as Jack Carter, while Caine appears in a supporting role. This remake was not well received by critics. Initial critical reception was poor, especially in the United Kingdom: "soulless and nastily erotic...virtuoso viciousness", "sado ...

For connoisseurs of the very best in motorway parking, here is a wonderful place to stop - beautiful views and colours. It is close to Chur and leaving it I continue north in the direction of the Liechstenstein capital Vaduz. And here also is some music from 1972 (if I remember correctly) The Sweet with Ballroom Blitz.

Autumn is a lovely time to travel in forested areas because of the wonderful colours as can be seen in this journey travelling north in Bavaria. One attraction is the first motorway parking place which has an exhibition of rocks from the Ice Age. Driving on we have an radio programme (in German) about John Barry, the composer of most of the James Bond themes until 1987, although as pointed out here it was Monty Norman who wrote the James Bond theme. This programme coincided with the launch of the film The Quantum Trust in Germany. And to go along with it, there is some background music from On Her Majesties Secret Service.

Norwich Cathedral

www.facebook.com www.ceepackaging.com twitter @ceepackaging www.facebook.com This is the cathedral at Norwich in the UK which is the first part of a series of films which I have prepared on this city. The sheer size of Norwich cathedral bears witness to the impact made on the City by the conquering Normans. Following their victory at Hastings in 1066, the Normans quickly stamped their dominance over their new kingdom by building scores of cathedrals and monasteries as well as hundreds of parish churches and castles. Norwich Castle was completed by 1075. In 1094 the seat of the East Anglian bishops was moved from Thetford to the fast-expanding city of Norwich. In 1096, laid the foundation stone at the eastern end of the new Cathedral and an immense building project was begun. Even today, the size and grandeur of the Cathedral creates feelings of awe and wonder. To eleventh and twelfth-century citizens of Norwich, the building must have appeared incredible a sure sign not only of the greatness of God, but also of the power and permanence of the Norman invaders.

Albert Speer - the 'Good Nazi'? part 1 of 7

A technocrat and undoubtedly brilliant organiser he managed to build himself the reputation of being a 'good' Nazi with his seeming regret after the war for his part in what had happened. However the truth is even worse than Gitta Sereny exposed in the 1970s and Speer was very lucky he did not receive a death sentence at Nuremburg.

Moscow metro : Mayakovskaya Маяковская

www.facebook.com www.ceepackaging.com twitter @ceepackaging www.facebook.com Mayakovskaya was built as part of the second stage of the Moscow Metro expansion, and was opened on September 11, 1938. If the first stage was more focused on the building the system itself, both architecturally and engineeringly the stations appear modest in comparison to those that the second stage brought to the system. For the first time in the world, instead of having the traditional three-neath pylon station layout, the engineers were able to overlap the vault space and support it with two sets of colonnades on each side. This gave birth to a new column type design and Mayakovskaya was the first station to show this. If the triumph in engineering was not enough, then Alexey Dushkin's brilliant Art Deco decoration design was truly amazing. Based on Soviet future as envisioned by the famous poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, for whom the station was named, the station features graceful columns faced with stainless steel and pink rhodonite, white Ufaley and grey Diorite marble walls, a brilliant flooring pattern of white and pink marble, and of course, most of all are the niches of each of the 35 niches of each vault. Surrounded by filament lights there are a total of 34 brilliant ceiling mosaics by Alexander Deyneka with the theme "24-Hour Soviet Sky." A passenger has but to look up and see the bright Soviet future in the heavens above him. Located 33 meters beneath the surface, the station became ...
