Board of Aldermen didn't take Dolores Sherman seriously when she spoke during the "Citizen's Petitions and Comments" of their meeting April 22, 2010. Almost a year later, they might be having second thoughts. On Jan. 11, 2011, Sherman announced she is running for one of two Ward One seats on the board in the City of St. Peters (Mo.), the city in which she says she was prosecuted more than five years earlier for a crime she didn't commit. Not only was Sherman sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay more than $125 in fines and other costs, but she was ordered to take "Anger Management" classes and dubbed "The Potato Lady" by a local newspaper reporter. Almost two months later, Sherman released this video featuring highlights of the meeting during which she spoke for almost eight minutes and shared allegations that she was the victim of serious wrongdoing involving an officer of the Missouri State Gaming Commission, the wife of one city employee and the wife of at least one sitting member of the board. After Sherman left the podium and exited the chamber, several members of the board can be heard laughing and at least one could be heard saying, "Hard act to follow." After the laughter died down, Alderman Reitmeyer took the microphone and read a flyer about the city's then-upcoming festival, the Old Town Picnic, which took place June 18-19. Born in 1971, Cuauhtémoc Morfín- known as "Temoc" by residents of the 25th Ward- is the sixth of eleven sons and daughters in the Morfin family. Morfin has resided in the Pilsen community since 1981 and attended Walsh Grammar School and then graduated from Benito Juarez High School in 1991. Determined to become the first one in his family to seek a college education, Morfin enrolled in Northern Illinois University (NIU) and received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish Literature in May of 1996. During this time, Morfin also took up the opportunity to study abroad by attending the National University of México. After NIU, Morfin returned to Pilsen where he embarked on projects that involved providing nutrition and health services that targeted youth and the elderly in the community.

Gasia Mikaelian: Have you ever had a merchant add a surcharge to your bill because you used a credit card or tell you that you had to make a minimum purchase to use your card? As KTVU's consumer editor, Tom Vacar, reports, both practices violate their credit card agreements and can be reported to the credit card company. Tom Vacar: At this Oakland (Tijuana Mexican Seafood Restaurant) restaurant, our lunch bill was $24.10. But the register slip was $.60 more. The waitress said it was a fee for using my VISA credit card. Tom Vacar: This San Leandro pizzeria (sign for Porky's Pizza Palace) charges $.50 more for a credit card purchase and this (sign for Papa Pancho's) San Lorenzo restaurant adds a buck to your bill if you use a debit or credit card. Consumers we met don't like the add-ons. Carl Horn (credit card user): It doesn't make any sense. You should take whatever I'm willing to spend with you and you shouldn't add any additional fees for using a certain type of transaction. It makes no sense at all.
