Greyhound at the Dog Park

Dudley goes wild at the dog park. We were the only ones there for most of the time, so Iain and I would walk in the opposite direction to Dudley, and, once we were halfway across the park, Dudz would go tearing by us at full speed. This immediately became the Most Funnest Game Evarrrr! -- and we played it for about 40 minutes until Dudz was absolutely knackered (and so were we!).
Greyhound Adoption

In April 2010, we adopted a retired racer named Dudley. He came to us shy, easily spooked, and submissive peeing after a life at the racetrack that had turned him into a scared, unhappy boy who didn't even know how to be a dog. We gave him love and patience and play and safety, and he doesn't even look like the same dog we adopted. Now, he smiles. Now, he's confident. Now, he runs for the joy of it. And he's brought us more happiness than we ever could have imagined. We changed his life, and he changed ours right back. Please visit the National Greyhound Adoption Program at www.ngap.org to find out where you can rescue a retired racer.

Dudley Doing the Greyhound Spin

Dudley being silly and playful, doing the greyhound spin. He does this almost every day before his evening walk and occasionally before we head out to the dog park. He won't do it *at* the dog park -- only in a small space, which apparently makes it much more fun! Also more fun: When I march in a circle and hum. When I act like he's not even there (ie sans camera), he goes absolutely wild play-bowing and trying to get my attention.

Playtime at the Manor

Playtime at Shakes Manor -- and the best toy in the world is still a plastic milk bottle ring. Olivia goes wild while Sophie looks on; Dudley tries to figure out how to get into the game; and Matilda remains haughtily disinterested in the other room. She reserves her wild abandon for plastic packing strips, thankyouverymuch.
Chompy Cat

When I scratch Olivia on a particular part of her back, she chomps and chews on my belly. Which is hilarious, but also sore!

Graceful Greyhound and Beautiful Boxer

Dudley the Greyhound and Buck the Boxer have a run around the dog park. Dudley is a retired racer that we adopted through a local greyhound rescue. Buck's owner adopted him from a local shelter. Please consider rescue if you're considering bringing another dog into your life. www.ngap.org
Can't Help Falling in Love with Dudz

I can't help falling in love with my greyhound, Dudley. He is the best dog for whom I ever could have asked, and our family is even better now that he's a part of it. Rescue a retired racer! You won't regret it.
