Amstrad PCW 8256 Computer, Games & Batman Footage

A look at the Amstrad PCW 8256 Personal Computer Wordprocessor. A 256k RAM memory computer that was launched in 1985. This was my first games system when I got it back in 1988. The video also features a look at the game 'Batman'. This computer system is very poorly represented on YouTube so I'll be doing more game reviews soon. Please get in touch if you have any PCW 8256 games you no longer need or want :)

Amstrad PDA600 Penpad Review

Way back in the midsts of time (early nineties) the mighty Alan Sugar set his Amstrad empire to work creating an electronic Filofax. The results of their labour was the Amstrad PDA600 Penpad. Like an Apple Newton but even worse, the PDA600 offered basic functionality at a terrifying price. Well, until you started trying to get it to recognise your handwriting, at which point it changed from 'basic' to 'useless'. Shunned by consumers and given away for a song in Tandy, the PDA600 has faded into obscurity. But then I bought one off eBay and made a video about it. Sorry. On the plus side, you can learn quite a lot about the way plastic degrades over time from this video. View more game reviews and hilarious* stuff @ www.youtube.com (*Due to the subjective nature of humour, hilarity cannot be guaranteed. Amstrad CPC Scenedemo Batman forever by Batman Group. First place in CPC Demo compo at Forever 2011 Interesting Demo. Ive never really taken much notice of the amstrad and shrugged it off as a sglorified pectrum that can do colour !. Now here is a demo that shows it can do hires colour at 50fps !. Makes me wonder what all the game devs were doing back in the old days. What makes this production more amazing is that it only requires a standard cpc (non plus) with 128k ram. WinAPE Amstrad cpc emulator was used to show demo. make sure Fast Disk loading is dissabled if watching in emu. One of those hate and love games. Gameplay is ok, but you find yourself dying a little bit to randomly i think. Isnt a bad conversion of the arcade game either. Here's the first ever game any GX4000 owner would have played - the racing game that came with the console! Made by Ocean who did an excellent job, and an obvious reworking of their earlier game WEC Le Mans with lovely graphics, enhanced Plus pallete of colours, fab music although the engine noise of the car tends to get on my nerves after a while!! I'm just giving this a quick play-though, not my best attempt! I've yet to finish this, but I'm close to. Controls are a little sluggish, but the collision detection is spot on. www.retrogamingcollector.com ---------------- Gameplay & commentary from 3D Grand Prix playing on the Amstrad (Schneider) CPC 464 8 bit vintage home computer. This isnot a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability. It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random. Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly. Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game. Thanatos 1/3 - Amstrad CPC

A awesome hard old game. Never finished it on "normal" 4 mode, but did it a couple of times on "1". As the game is so hard you need a lot of luck. The knight on the horse can kill you in one hit and so can the big cats if you are unluck. Even a dove can kill you if you make a turn at the wrong time :D The spiders are the greatest thread i find, because if the sorceress gets knocked off you never know what happens. If you are unluck she may land right on top of a spider. Brilliant original concept for a game tho. By Durell 1986

[AMSTRAD CPC] R-Type 128K Remake - Exclusive Preview!

Amstrad CPC - remake of R-Type (for 128k machines) EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW VIDEO!! Hey guys I'm very excited to bring you a sneak peek preview video of the work done so far on the remake of the Amstrad port of R-Type! (** PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON AN EMULATOR, THINGS LOOK AND MOVE A LOT NICER ON A REAL AMSTRAD! **) A long time ago, the Amstrad received the port of the legendary coin-op R-Type, it was OK but it was a rush job and was just completely ported from the (excellent) Speccy version. Very little enhancements were made, apart from workarounds to get it displaying correctly on the CPC, this resulted in further overheads and thus ended up being slower and far less impressive than the Spectrum original. The Easter Egg team began work on improving the game back in December 2009, now a year later you get to see their progress! What started out as just improving the graphics, sound effects and music, turned into a massive rewrite of the game improving and enhancing many aspects and introducing even more new stuff. The original Amstrad programmer Keith Goodyer even turned up on the CPC Wiki forums to assist and give his side of the story! Then Bob Pape the Spectrum version programmer came forward with some of his original code! That then became the base for this remake... This is still the unfinished preview version bare in mind, but already we have an amazing improvement and a port all Amstrad fans can be proud of... Enjoy! Facehuggers Ultimate Megademo for the Amstrad CPC, done in 1992 and features some unique techniques (for the time) such as: crystal clear sample play back, realtime calculated vector balls, a picture using interlace effect for more colors in mid resolution, video animation, a bunch of sprites in 320x200 and no loss of frame rate (lemmings part) and 3d filled polygons in real time. [Amstrad Cpc] Ghost 'N Goblins Longplay

(Elite, 1986) This is a straightforward platform game that sees you, as a knight, fighting off numerous ghosts, zombies and other monsters. The first level is set in a graveyard, where you have to jump over gravestones and several rivers. The second level sees you on a ship, with more platform jumping involved, and the third level is in a dark cave. After that, the levels start repeating. This game is really showing its age - the graphics are basic, the concept is totally unoriginal, the collision detection is woeful, and above all else, it's too hard.

Grange Hill - Amstrad CPC - darkest game-over ever?

Grange Hill was a video game made for 8-bit computers including the Commodore 64, Sinclair ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. It was based on Grange Hill, a popular children's television show. The object of the game is to retrieve Gonch's personal stereo from the school after hours, which his teacher confiscated. At the end of this video is often considered one of the darkest Game-Overs ever, watch video to see for yourself. The game dosn't included the tv theme tune.

(Microids/Broderbund, 1990) The Grand Vizier has captured the Sultan's daughter and has given her an ultimatum; either marry him, or die! You have one hour in which to get out of the dungeons and rescue her from her cell before the Grand Vizier kills her. Each level sees you fighting guardians and finding the way out, and there are potions to be drunk, too. This was also the first game ever to feature real animation, where the characters really do move properly, and the number of actions you can perform are astonishing. The graphics are incredible, especially the intro sequence, and really, the only bad thing about this game is the awful 'music', which thankfully isn't present in the main game. [AMSTRAD CPC] Biggles - Longplay & Review

Do you want to be a hero? Chocks away! BIGGLES takes off on the Amstrad CPC ... and a strange game it is indeed! Mostly because it's based on the movie released in 1986 that bares little resemblance to the books and features a bizarre time traveling plot! For those of you that don't know, Biggles is a very famous character and series of books published in the UK by WE Johns from the 1930's-60's who's an ace pilot in the RAF following his exploits through WW1, WW2 and beyond. For many years a movie was planned to be made, eventually in the early 80's scripts were written for a 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' style adventure, but was hastily re-written due to the success of Back To The Future. So we ended up with a strange plot involving an American TV dinner salesman (Jim) who is Biggles "time twin" and they both get zapped through time whenever the other is in trouble! The games follows the plot of the cheesy movie (which is a big guilty pleasure of mine despite the naff plot!!) where Biggles and Jim have to first photograph the new secret 'Sound Weapon' the Nazi's are making, find the test site location for the weapon, shoot forward to 1986 to eventually steal a helicopter, which then gets zapped back to WW1 where it's used to destroy the secret weapon! Phew! Got all that? The game is split into two sections, the first sees you jumping between 3 different levels and time zones and the last section being a helicopter shoot-em-up sim that is ridiculously hard which I've <b>...</b>
