2009 Christmas Rescue by Animal Advocates.us

This pitbull was rescued during Christmas season 2009 in South Los Angeles. He is 1.5 years old, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped pitbull terrier mix. He weighed 52 lbs when he was rescued. He weighs 65 lbs now and it's only been 10 days. I will stop feeding him extra food. He will be available for adoption in a month or so. He needs to heal from his wounds and do more training first. He will pass his canine good citizenship training before adoption. He would probably do better in a home without cats and bunnies. I'm working on his prey drive. Maybe I can conquer it in a month. Special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Jones of the Kenneth Jones Veterinary Hospital. www.kennethjonesdvm.com 1708 17th Street Santa Monica, CA 90404-4410 (310) 824-2588 Also thanks to Dog Man of youtube.com/PitForLife for his concern. Rescuing a raccoon from horrible conditions, Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins

I was called by Peter Wallerstein of Marine Animal Rescue to rescue a raccoon in a boat. The raccoon had been living in a 2' x 2' x 2' cage for its life. He was on four inches of feces with no water and had a chain around his neck. The boat was impounded. A mentally ill person had the boat. Raccoon has cataract in one eye, a small cataract in the other, broken teeth from chewing on his cage and matts in his fur. He may not be releasable. In that case he will stay here in sanctuary for life in a large enclosure with a pond. Animal Advocates, Mary Cummins www.animaladvocates.us Thanks also to the Sheriff Dept for calling us. Thanks, Peter http Here's a link to the raccoon's full story with photos animaladvocateswildliferehabilitation.blogspot.com UPDATE: New video. He's doing much better. www.youtube.com

Someone called about an ill opossum mom with babies. By the time I got there half an hour later she was dead. I took her and her babies home.
