France outlaws Armenian Genocide denial

Turkey has vowed to retaliate, after the French Senate approved a bill making it a crime to deny that the massacre of Armenians by the Ottoman empire in 1915, was genocide. Ankara has already suspended military, political and economic ties with Paris. Both houses of the French parliament have passed the bill, which still has to be signed off by President Sarkozy in order to become law. The proposal is set to make the denial of genocide and war crimes, recognized by French law, punishable by up to a year in prison. Turkey denies the massacre, that's considered by many to be the 20th century's first genocide. The executive director of the Armenian National Committee of America, Aram Hamparian, says the measure will force Ankara to admit to the atrocities. Ottomans made Armenians migrate to a secure land from the dangers of 1st World War. They would kill all Armenians, if they wanted to! But they DID'NT! What Ottomans did in 1915 was not genocide. But what the French did in Algeria was genocide !! Let's also talk about the Armenian butchery in Xocali / Azerbaijan !! They murdered so many Azeri Turks in Xocalı in the late 1990s and they are not denying the killings, but telling the world that a Armenian Genocide happened. WESTERN PSEUDO DEMOCRATIC COUNTRIES are at their side. Their HATRED of muslim Turks is like their religion -- ALLAH will not forgive them for killing infants !!!!

Sarkozy Vows Genocide Denial Ban after French Court Axes Law on Armenian Genocide by Turks

Turkey welcomed a ruling by the highest court in France to overturn a law making it illegal to deny that the killing of Armenians in the former Ottoman Empire last century was genocide. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu congratulated the French justices for their decision, but the French Foreign Ministry stated that France "assumes with clarity and transparency its duty to remember the tragedies that have marked its history." The French parliament approved a law in January, making it illegal to deny the killings of Armenians in 1915 were illegal. It is already illegal in France to deny the Holocaust of World War II, a crime punishable by a one-year jail term. The Armenian legislation would mete out the same punishment should it become law. Even though the proposed law has damaged relations between France and Turkey, French President Nicolas Sarkozy has asked his government to draft a new version of a law which he is determined to have approved.

Armenian Genocide: French house passes bill

...to punish denial of Armenian Genocide, committed by the Young Turks in the Ottoman Empire between 1915-1917. At least 1.5 Million of Armenians were massacred. Also many hundred thousands of other Christians living in the Ottoman Turkey were massacred during that period (Greeks, Chaldeans, Assyrians...) In 2001 France had already recognized the Armenian Genocide. Turkey is still denying today this Genocide and so do turkish deniers living in France, Europe... This bill is very important and will help at least French-Armenians to have the ability to attack those who still will deny this fact, before the French Justice.

ANCA on Al Jazeera: Hamparian Discusses the French Senate's Anti-Genocide Denial Vote

ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian was invited to the Al Jazeera English studios in Washington DC this evening for a live interview on the January 23rd French Senate votewhich criminalized genocide denial in that country. Hamparian did a live skype interview on Russia's #1 English language news station RT just hours ago on the same topic. The Armenian American perspective on the vote has served as an important part of overall international news coverage of the French Senate decision. In a statement issued immediately after the French Senate vote, Hamparian noted: "Today's courageous vote by the French Senate shines the spotlight across the Atlantic, on American policymakers, who, for far too long, have let Ankara block US recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The growing international pressure on Turkey and, closer to home, the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by 42 US states, highlight that President Obama, who promised as a candidate to recognize the Armenian Genocide, has allowed a foreign country to impose a gag-rule on US recognition of this crime against humanity. We mark this occasion by urging President Obama to honor his pledge to recognize the Armenian Genocide and by calling on the US House leadership to allow a vote on the Armenian Genocide Resolution, H.Res.304."

Turkish fury as French MPs back Armenia genocide bill

www.euronews.net Despite protests from France's Turkish community, the lower house of parliament in Paris has backed a bill making the denial of genocide a crime. For France, this covers the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915. But that puts it at odds with Ankara which rejects the genocide description. "We want to leave history to historians and politics to politicians," said one Franco-Turkish demonstrator outside the National Assembly. "We don't want politicians to deal with history."

Armenian Genocide Commemoration - Poem

The commemoration of the 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Cambridge. The poem being read is titled " A Vast Catastrophic Explosion". The poem illustrates how 1.5 million Armenians were brutally killed, raped, tortured, and forced out of their home land in the first genocide of the 20th century. Even after all the torture and the lives lost Turkey still had the guts to deny anything ever took place. Even 97 years later with all the proof, with all the land and churches stolen, and with all the gut wrenching stories the survivors had they still DENY anything ever took place. This is wrong in so many different ways. We will not give up until justice is served. We will never let our ancestor's helpless voices be silenced. We will not rest until justice is served so those poor innocent 1.5 million souls can finally rest in peace.

The Armenian Genocide

The Armenian Genocide (Armenian: Հայոց Ցեղասպանություն) refers to the deliberate and systematic destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I. It was implemented through wholesale massacres and deportations, with the deportations consisting of forced marches under conditions designed to lead to the death of the deportees. The total number of resulting Armenian deaths is generally held to have been between one and one and a half million. Other ethnic groups were similarly attacked by the Ottoman Empire during this period, including Assyrians and Greeks, and some scholars consider those events to be part of the same policy of extermination. It is widely acknowledged to have been one of the first modern genocides, as scholars point to the systematic, organized manner in which the killings were carried out to eliminate the Armenians, and it is the second most-studied case of genocide after the Holocaust. The word genocide was coined in order to describe these events. The starting date of the genocide is conventionally held to be April 24, 1915, the day that Ottoman authorities arrested some 250 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople. Thereafter, the Ottoman military uprooted Armenians from their homes and forced them to march for hundreds of miles, depriving them of food and water, to the desert of what is now Syria.
