"EL PLANETA" seguiriya Jerónimo Maya
One of my favourites; Jerónimo Maya son of Felipe Maya. He had classes from the 'maestros'; Sabicas, Paco de Lucía (!) and ofcourse his father Felipe who is a great player also. I've met Jerónimo once at a concert and he was very friendly (also perhaps because he's a gipsy and I was there with some of my gipsy friends...lucky me!) anyway we played some and he explained this particular Seguiriya, it's tuned with the 1st and 6th string to D. It has some nice triplet rasgeados excecuted with mdown idown iup. This is a tipical technique what he always uses. He uses this same technique on just one string (first) to get a picado effect by my knowledge is this only used by him (!) I posted this also for my friend Arnaldo, so here a rather young Jeronimo (16 years!) por Seguiriya... enjoy!! btw Perhaps I'll post a vid from my "classes" from Jerónimo where he explains some of his signatured techniques!!
