In December 2009 myself and two mates ventured into the Outback in the dead heat of an Australian Summer. Our journey starts in Alice Springs before joining a 3-day 'Rock Tour'. We hiked through Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta Valley of the Winds, and Uluru's Mala and Base walk. Saw the sun rise and set to the background of Uluru as our guide told us Children's stories from the Aboriginal culture. The ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge 2008 celebrated its 10th anniversary. Each year in May more than 120 competitors from Australia and overseas put their highly modified four wheel drives through more than 25 special stages over 9 days competing in the Australian Outback. Sanctioned by the Cross Country Drivers Association (CCDA) there are two classes of vehicles; Challenge and Trophy. Challenge Class consists of highly modified vehicles whereas Trophy Class fits into a more modest budget but is still tackling the same courses and is more than capable of winning the event. Unlike other four wheel drive events in Australia, the special stages at the ARB Warn Outback 4x4 Challenge are extensive, creating a true test of endurance and skill for all teams, which have included international teams from: Malaysia, France, England, Scotland, New Zealand, The United States, Alaska, South Africa, and Venezuela. These two rare ALBINO wombats were scooped up by wildlife rescuers after being discovered wandering around the south Australian outback. The cute pair of white Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat cubs - named Icy and Pola by their handlers - were found tired and hungry in fields near Ceduna, Australia. They were taken to Ceduna Fauna Rescue Centre, where manager Val Salmon and her team nursed them back to health. The cuddly duo are only the second and third white wombats to be seen at the sanctuary in more than 30 years.

Two guys Yura and Frank drive from Melbourne to the red heart of Australian outback - Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon and Alice Springs. Both of us are interested in long-distance radio, so we took a WinRadio receiver with us to see what sort of radio reception one gets in the middle of nowhere, using a piece of wire as an antenna. We ended up listening to European stations in the Australian desert! We did over 7000 km in 2 weeks, which included staying in some unforgettable places for a couple of days.
