Great Expectations Soundtrack 1998 Euphoria Morning (Japanese CD) 1999 In late 1994, after touring in support of Superunknown, doctors discovered that Chris Cornell had severely strained his vocal cords, and Soundgarden canceled several shows to try to avoid causing any permanent damage. But it was too late by then, and Chris lost a considerable amount of power and range in his voice. Following the worldwide tour in support of Superunknown, the band members began working on what would become their final album "Down On The Upside". However, tensions within the group arose during the sessions, with Kim Thayil and Chris clashing over Cornell's desire to shift away from the heavy guitar riffing that had become the band's trademark. Soundgarden took a slot on the 1996 Lollapalooza tour with Metallica, who had insisted on their appearance. After Lollapalooza, the band embarked on another worldwide tour, and already-existing tensions only increased. At the final stop in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 9, 1997, Ben Shepherd threw his bass into the air in frustration after suffering equipment failure, and subsequently stormed off the stage. www.npr.org April 2, 2010 It's been about 20 years since Jakob Dylan first began making music at Canter's Deli in Los Angeles. Back then he was heading up his band The Wallflowers. In 1996, The Wallflowers put out Bringing Down The Horse, a record they made with musician and producer T-Bone Burnett. That record proved to be a success, both musically and financially. Now 14 years later, Dylan has reunited with Burnett to create some of the best songs of his life, on his latest record, Women and Country — his second album under his own name. His touring band includes those who helped him make that record, including Neko Case and Kelly Hogan. Fans of All Songs Considered have followed Case as a singer in The New Pornographers and as a mighty solo artist in her own right. Hogan, another terrific songwriter and singer, has been making records since the early '90s. The two sang backing vocals with Jakob Dylan when he stopped by for a Tiny Desk Concert. Dylan's entourage also included Paul Rigby, as guitarist fans of Neko Case might know from his contributions to her music. His parlor-sized steel-stringed guitar sounded beautiful played quietly through his amp, even in these cozy confines. WELCOME HOME (SANITARIUM) "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" is the fourth song from Metallica's 1986 album Master of Puppets. It was inspired by Ken Kesey's novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Keeping with the theme of powerlessness of "Master of Puppets", the lyrics portray one being trapped in insanity, or perhaps incarcerated in a mental asylum. However, a sanitarium is usually a facility for treating tuberculosis and other chronic disease. It begins slowly with harmonics, which in the song are meant to simulate time slowly ticking by. Eventually leading into the main riff followed by the bass guitar, drums and solo. The lyrics progress and become more harsh as time moves on, backed by harsher vocals (in comparison to the cleaner vocals of the song) and heavily distorted guitars. The song ends with several solos and a few lyrics that hint about an uprising in the asylum. Altogether, the song is guided by powerful and moving riffs that give the song a cold and gloomy atmosphere. The original demo version of this song features an extended ending which is eventually used as bass and guitar solos in the song "Orion". The section of the song that begins at 4:06 ("Fear of living on/Natives getting restless now...") bears a resemblance to a main riff in the Rush song "Tom Sawyer." Metallica thanks Rush in the liner notes for the album, so the riff may have been an intentional tribute, but it has not been confirmed by either band. Hello, thanks for putting up the Miracles piece on YouTube. Just thought I'd point out which musicians you are actually hearing play on the songfrom the horses mouth so to speak. Personnel didn't change from the beginning of the Jefferson Starship in 1974 until the riot in Germany in 1978 when we had to cancel a show because Grace was too ill to play. The original Jefferson Starship (we actually only played two or three Airplane songs live) recorded the song "Miracles" which you are hearing, in 1975. It was from the hit album, Red Octopus. The band consisted of: Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, Marty Balin, Craig Chaquico, Papa John Creach, David Frieburg, Pete Sears (me), and John Barbata. Paul played rhythm guitar and sang back-ups on the track, Craig lead guitar, Papa John violin, Marty lead vocal, Grace lead back-ups, David Frieburg played the haunting B3 organ riff on the song and also sang back-ups, John Barbata drums, and I played both bass guitar and piano on the track. We had some good times with that band...I wrote a lot with Grace including the song Hyperdrive, and the band would play long three hour sets with plenty of improvisation. Jefferson Airplane had broken-up in 1972 after Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady decided to concentrate on Hot Tuna...I later joined Hot Tuna on piano for a wonderful ten year run during the 1990's.The Jefferson Starships sound, record producer, and several personnel changed quite drastically during the 1980's, eventually fizzling out at <b>...</b>

This lesson introduces a new strumming technique so may be a bit difficult if you're just starting out. If this is the case for you, you can just follow the chords in the lesson and start with a strumming pattern you already know. Once you've got that down then look to add the strumming as shown. You guys have been requesting it for a really long time now, and I'm pleased to finally follow through with it. Even though I didn't play this game as a kid, the game quickly became very important to me very quickly. The story is a complete 180 in terms of mood and atmosphere from Ocarina of Time, but it's very fitting I think. Majora's Mask will be a game that I don't think I'll ever stop playing. I had a lot of fun with this one obviously. With everything that I've learned since my Ocarina of Time Medley, I was able to really shape the sound I wanted for this. I also backed this one up just in case it corrupted on me! I took a lot of time with the arrangement, combining the giants theme and Oath to Order and rearranging certain parts to make it sound good as one giant composition. I'm very pleased with it for the most part, however I felt that the guitar tones could have sounded better in retrospect. Even though I've been doing this for about 9 months, I still havn't found tones I can completely settle with. I know this one is important to the majority of you, so I did my absolute best not to let you guys down. I hope you like it and it hits you like it hit me. :) This is track 9 out of 10 of the second run of my Nintendo 64 Medleys. That means that this is the last game! But then they accepted the rules and their 20 minutes of fame came on at 18:44 GMT. Queen were on top form and not only according to Bob Geldof and Elton John, they stole the show. They played only the intro to Bohemian Rhapsody (the opera part couldn't be played from the tape as playback was forbidden & there wasn't enough time anyway). Instead of the opera part, Radio Ga Ga followed. We Will Rock You was reduced to the first verse (and the final guitar solo) only. In this case I was going for 1950's smalltown America. I decided to name it after Topeka (pronounced "Tuh-PEE-kuh"), Kansas, which ain't exactly small, but it is the hometown of my buddy Andy McKee, the loveliest, most down-to-earth solo guitar player on the circuit. The tuning is Ab, Eb, C, F, G, Bb. Like an Ab major 13 chord. And the top two strings both get retuned during the intro and outro - the G goes to an A and the Bb to a C. If you want to try this tune at home, I'd recommend tuning up a tone from where I am, cos I use super-heavy strings - try it at Bb, F, D, G, A, C. How do I get a high level of sustain or overdrive from my amp without necessarily turning it up too loud and 2. What am I supposed to do with the tone or EQ controls on the amp. In this lesson we shall address both of these subjects. First let's look at setting up your amp to get the most sustain at reasonable volume. Now one difficulty about discussing amplifiers is that, manufacturers differ in their choice of labels for the controls on different makes of amplifier. One manufacturer will label a control 'Volume' another 'Gain' We also get 'Boost', 'Level' 'Pre-gain' Post-Gain' 'Overdrive' 'Distortion' 'Input volume' 'Output volume' and 'Master volume' -- all labels on knobs that basically do the same thing -- they allow you to control the amplitude of the signal passing through the circuitry of the amplifier at some given point. Added to this complication, some amps have multiple channels and some even multiple inputs. Now, if you have got more than one channel or input choose one that is labelled 'High Gain', 'Overdrive' 'Distortion' or some such label indicating more power. Avoid channels labelled 'Clean' or 'Low Gain' Now look at the control panel of your amp and locate the input socket -- this should be where your guitar lead is plugged into the amp. Whatever labels are used on your amp we'll call the one closest to the input socket GAIN and the <b>...</b>

I just happened upon this trick when testing what it was like filming from inside my guitar. *Note this effect is due to the rolling shutter, which is non-representative of how strings actually vibrate. Tips: • You must have the strings brightly backlit to get the camera to capture at such a high frame rate (pure conjecture). You can see how the effect fades when the buildings come into view. • Use a pencil *This was used with the front facing camera, try the back camera, it may capture better!
