Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:14.64 (ON BOARD)
The proof is in the driving: the Lexus LFA, equipped with the Nürburgring Package of aerodynamic and handling enhancements, has conquered the famous German race track from which it takes its name with a new fastest lap for a current, regular production car. LFA test driver and professional racer Akira Iida recorded a lap time of 7:14.64 in a fully road-legal car, running on standard specification Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tyres. The result, posted on 31 August during a performance test, demonstrates Lexus's success in honing its two-seater supercar for track-focused handling, by introducing a range of aerodynamic features and fine-tuning the car's suspension. Commenting on the result, Iida said: "We are delighted with this achievement. Our on-going development of the LFA and our recent outings at the Nürburgring 24 Hour race have enabled us to continue to tune the vehicle. The result with the LFA Nürburgring Package shows the car's ultimate performance and agility. This is a first activity of its type for Lexus and the constant effort of the team has brought this fantastic result." The Nürburgring Package will be fitted to 50 of the 500 LFA that are being built, with customer deliveries from next year. It includes a carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) front spoiler and fixed rear wing, track-tuned suspension and custom wheels. This was the season finale, Saeed had already sewn up the Championship but was still hungry for victories. Conditions took a turn for the worse on raceday as the circuit was hit by a sandstorm. By the time of the race it had eased a little but the circuit was still covered in sand. No problem to Saeed, an accomplished Rally Driver but it did give us some great action as an early spin left Saeed at the back of the pack and the video covers his fight to move back up the field with some great overtaking moves and awesome "rally style" driving. I would do it 'of all time' if I could, but sadly Onboard cameras have really evolved in only the 21st century. In the 1950's too 1990's the onboard camera was ok, but the sound of the car wasn't heard properly! Onboard: Race Action from Raed Raffii in the Chevrolet Lumina V8 Supercar Finale
www.driver-coaching.com - Great Onboard race action with Raed Raffii in the final round of the Chevrolet Supercars Middle-East Championship at the fabulous Zain Reem circuit in Saudi Arabia. Raed had qualified on pole for both races but made the mistake of being a little too fast for the rolling start and was caught out by Tarek El-Gammal into Turn 1. Raed battled with the Australian who was not as quick but who defended admirably but this allowed Fahad Al-Musalam to catch the pair. Raed briefly passed both El-Gammal and Al-Musalam at the hairpin as they battled for position but this left all 3 cars going side by side into the tricky double-left. Raed sensibly left room on the inside, just as well as a sideways Al-Musalam came by in a full 4-wheel drift which would have scored highly in any Drift Competition. Unfortunately Raed's generosity in leaving space let El-Gammal back into the lead. Raed chased hard and was many times alongside but El-Gammal retained his lead until the flag with Raed finishing in 2nd. Join Mika and Michael for some close racing on the old A1 RIng in Austria, back in 1998. Full onboard footage. Mika is only stopping once and Michael will stop twice, the Ferrari is faster at the hairpin and the corner after the backstraight. Great driving from Mika with that heavy car though, from 4:09 you can see Michael gaining very much in those two corners, but Mika just won't give any room to pass!
