www.v8tvshow.com - We recently came across legendary drag racer Arnie The Farmer Beswicks 1969 D Pontiac GTO Judge. Back in 1969, Pontiac let out a few hand-tweaked Ram Air IV 400 cubic inch GTOs to a few lucky drag racers. These engines were rumored to far surpass the stock 370 horsepower rating, and the story has it that Pontiac wanted these Ram Air IV Judges to be raced in stock-class races across the country. Beswicks car is truly a stripper model, with no options or sound deadener to keep it light. Even the seam sealer was left off this car to keep the weight to a minimum.

Welcome to the New Year people! We are starting 2010 with a bang and donating this lovely old didgeridoo to our fund-raising campaign. The instrument is a mago from Beswick and was collected in the 1980s. Those in the know will recognise Beswick as the place of residence of that great mago exponent, the one and only David Blanasi. Is this a Blanasi instrument? We don't know as that information was not supplied to us when we got this stick. There is a resemblance to other Blanasi instruments we've had but we'll leave it to you to do the research and find out if you've got a small fortune in your hands or not. This mago plays in the key of E fundamental, which occasionally rises to F when pushed hard. Length is 112 cm. Mouthpiece inner diameter is 35 mm, no wax. Bell end diameter is 6-6.5 cm. Weight is 1.9 kg. The whole of the instrument has been painted in ochre (earth pigments). Structurally the mago is fine, with no cracks or repairs. There is rubbing and general fading to the ochres which is no big deal, it adds to the charm of the instrument and actually enhances its look. Note that there are 2 small drill holes, one near the bell and one in the mid-section, both of these go all the way through the walls of the mago and were already there when we got the instrument. No doubt this was for displaying the instrument, a previous owner must have hung this on the wall as decoration. The 2 drill holes can be easily patched but we have left them as is. Earlier this year the government announced that Manchester had been selected as the site for the UK's first Super Casino. This was to generate many new jobs and hundreds of millions of pounds for regeneration of the Beswick area around the Commonwealth Games Stadium (now home to Manchester City FC). From what we saw in 2004 the area could certainly do with regenerating. However, it appears that with Blairs departure Gordon "Presbyterian" Brown appears to have scraped the scheme.
