All I can say is DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.... How hot was it? It was unbelievably hot, after a few seconds my whole mouth felt like it was on fire, soon after that my mouth and throat went numb..... This one put me in a different world, like the Dorset Naga but with less of an orange taste, more of Chili flavor to it and the heat is just as mental if not more..... So, how hot was the Chocolate Bhut Jolokia.....? The heat from this is insane... Instantly burning the mouth after swallowing, moving from the lips, then concentrating on the top of the throat... But from that point, the heat increases for a good 10 mins... leaving the body shaking, cold sweats, goose pimples.... the whole lot... and the end of the heat seems to concentrate on the stomach area... I have to say, I was nearly sick.. but managed to keep it in after walking around for 15 mins lol.... How about the taste.....? Similar to the Bhut Jolokia, this has a very deep flavour... Fruity hits with the Jolokia overtone... Have used this in many dishes, pasta's and curries etc... But I have to say, use with extreme caution and small doses... Plus, always wash your hands after touching chilies.... lets just say, you don't want to go to the toilet before you do so... Guys, you can probably understand more than most lol... The Yellow Bhut Jolokia, a Chinense variety that i got fom Dave @ asiasgardens and got it going this sason, they are in Pots atm and grow like normal Chinense and will put them in the ground next season to see howthey go, the pods get to about 7-8 cm and are nagaish in shape.. Was lucky enough to have the Lovely Mel pop up to join me in the test today, thanks mate was great meeting in person and had a Ball doing the test as well :D What they Like ? How Hot are They ? Very fruity straight up and then a building burn that gets to about 2/3 the heat of a Naga, seeemed to burn me all over but Mel only got the tongue happening, lasted a while and was a great burn as well. Well this is my 50th video, so I wanted to do something a bit special. I have had this pair of CPI Bhut Jolokias in the fridge for the last week trying to find someone to eat the second pod with me. No luck, so I though I would attempt to eat them both myself! The CPI (Chilli Pepper Institute) Bhut Jolokia was the world's hottest chilli for quite some time, before being taken over by the Infinity, Naga Viper and now the Butch T scorp. It is still a very hot chilli when grown correctly, as these have been grown to perfection by Jon, who kindly sent them to me to try. Very strong naga aroma when first cut open, the fumes even hurt my eyes! Nice fresh, fruity taste, slightly citrus. Again the second pod seemed a touch sweeter, not sure why. Heat built to a hot coal and left my mouth pretty sore. Eating 2 pods is definitely not good for you lol. 2 friends and myself each eat one whole Bhut Jolokia Pepper. This is the hottest pepper in the world at approximately 1000000 Scoville units. Tabasco is 1500 SU. The Bhut Jolokia is 666.66 times hotter than Tabasco. In my book this pepper is one of the hottest damn thing I have ever eaten. This is my limit - I know when I have had enough. Anything hotter than this is going to be too much. ========== UPDATE =========== Yep - they were real. To put it in perspective we are some extreme peppers eaters. We like fresh Habaneros on everything. We are also sauce collectors - we play a game using a sauce called Da' Bomb The Final Answer that is 1.5 Million Scoville Units. Which is technically hotter than a Bhut Jolokia - according to Chemistry. We put it directly on wings one drop at a time and keep daring each other to go higher. We are up to 7 drops in one bite. That is nothing compared to this pepper I can tell you Chemistry is completely full of crap! I was really suffering there and about 1 millimeter from being over the top. My friends and I are rather competitive. About an hour after this we declared a truce because we decided someone was going to get hurt or need a colon transplant. The video is to short to show how much I was hurting about 1 hour later when the heart burn kicked in - I never get heart burn. Bottom line - I am a bit scared of this pepper now and have a lot of respect for it.
