But if they're truly in good faith defining something, and they're trying to do so in a way that makes the criteria for inclusion in that definition as unambiguous as possible--if perhaps quite difficult to live up to--then why should No True Scotsman apply? For example, IF a christian were to say that to be a TRUE christian you cannot lose your faith, and anybody who DOES lose their faith is not a true christian, what's wrong with this? Mind you, that's slightly different from the version I saw online; the version I saw was a christian saying that a true christian CANNOT lose their faith...but even so, so what? If they want to define it that way, why CAN'T they? What's illogical about that? It might be unrealistic, but it's hardly a contradiction, it doesn't make the claim unfalsifiable. It just makes the standard for what makes a true christian contigent upon maintaining faith...which, yes, makes it tenuous since one cannot read the future, but again, so what? I'm getting fucking sick of this... I was going to stay out of this. I've done videos about it before, so I figured that I'd said my piece, and done my portion. But I'm responding to this: www.youtube.com especially after going through the comments section of this: www.youtube.com A topic as complex as metaphysics and belief is necessarily nebulous. Virtually every other idea that human beings have is... We're able to discuss them and explore all possibilities surrounding them, so I have to ask, why are people so resistant to the idea of there being a middle ground between atheism/theism? We're not talking about mathematical equations here, we're talking about peoples ideas, especially when you consider that there is no empirical scientific test that can yet determine an answer to this question... All the empirical scientific method can do is say that it's very very unlikely that a supernatural being that operates outside of nature but alters it as it sees fit exists. This says nothing about whether or not someone can be unsure about what they believe. Semantically, yes; You're either an atheist or you're not. Are we really going to assume that just discussing semantics completely shuts down this argument? Language is just as nebulous as metaphysics and belief. There are several examples of how language fails to accurately describe a concept or a feeling... But we're going to assume that in this case it's completely cut and dried and there's no room for argument? Pardon <b>...</b>

Shortly after posting my video, Bionicdance does a video to avoid the clear hypocrisy I pointed out. And in doing so, makes a complete and utter hypocrite out of herself.
