"A bore hole reached 33 trapped Chilean miners on Friday, according to a CNN report, which cited officials, but the hole must be widened before the miners can get through, in a process that should take a few weeks. The drill was welcomed by the workers in the mine's workshop 623 meters down at about 10:30 AM ET. ""Once we got back to drilling it went very good, the rock was real tough the last few hours, but we did it,"" said Brandon Fisher of Center Rock Inc. The miners are expected to be rescued, if all goes well, by late October or early November. Officials said that the eventual rescue of the miners may require an oxygen-fed cage that will bring one up at a time. Originally, they thought the trip might take up to two hours, but now they believe that it will take about fifteen minutes."
