This is a silly little rant about can openers set to a little background music of my own creation. Seriously, though, I'd like to see some video responses in which people demonstrate their can openers. I'd particularly like to see manual can openers in action and if anyone has a John Wayne P-38 type of can opener, then LET'S SEE IT!!! The rant: The culprit here, friends, is not the lowly spatula or the knife and there's nothing amazing or awesome about any of you if you can't see that, to put it bluntly. The culprit is not any ordinary kitchen utensil at all. Nay, few modern humans deem it necessary to own a manual can opener and those that do, possess wimpy ones that require one to merely wind one's way around the lid of a can. A true neo-ludite uses the classic bayonet style manual can opener, which requires a certain degree of manual dexterity to operate. It's not for the lily-livered or the weak-hearted. This baby requires a certain amount of skill to use and it saves space too! Compact, useful, versatile - what more could you ask for? Don't try this at home kiddies! You might hurt yourselves! Please feel free to post video responses in which you show me your can opener! I'd especially like to see some John Wayne P-38's in action!
