From the movie: Tous les matins du monde Some Info: Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687) Italian-born composer (French nationality from 1681). Entered service of Louis XIV 1653, composed instrumental music for the court ballets. From 1664 collaborated with Molière in series of comedy-ballets which were forerunners of French opera, the last and most famous being Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, in which Lully danced role of the Mufti. Having assimilated both Italian and French styles and tastes, from 1673 he turned to opera composition and obtained from the King exclusive rights to arrange operatic performances in Paris. His death was caused by a gangrenous abscess which formed in his foot after he struck it with the long staff he used for beating time on the floor while conducting a Te Deum to celebrate Louis XIV's recovery from illness.

The Challenge - A haka (challenge) by Te Mātārae IO Rehu - National Kapahaka Champions 2011 for Te Matatini O Te Ra (see ''Te Matatini O Te Ra' at: www.maoritelevision.com). Lead by male leader Wetini Mitai Ngatai and female leader Miriama Hare. This powerful haka was intended to awaken and call on the powers and strength of Ruaumoko (the God of Earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions) causing havoc in his mother, Papatuanuku's (or Mother Earth) womb to the point of breaking ground. Hence, the visual effect of seismic activity on a volcano. During the haka, Wahine (women) have the dual role of not only instigating and inciting their Tane (men) to anger but to reinforce protection of their families, tribe and land; and this they do by supporting them in their aggressive stance and fierce haka. In this respect, this is the reason why the Haka has significant meaning and purpose in New Zealand. [NOTE RE: COMMENTS: If you have nothing positive to say then don't say it. Un nodate est une « cérémonie du thé » (chanoyu) pratiquée en plein air, souvent dans un jardin, quelquefois en pleine nature. Le chanoyu dérive du zen. La traduction la plus littérale du mot nodate est « faire le thé dans un champ ». Nous le traduisons par « cérémonie du thé champêtre ». Dans le Japon d'avant Meiji (1868), la pratique du chanoyu était officiellement réservée aux hommes. Avant la pacification du pays par les shōguns Tokugawa (1603-1868), les samurais pratiquaient le nodate dans les campements ou à proximité des champs de bataille. C'était leur moyen de détente et de conjurer la peur de la mort avant le combat. Ce film a été tourné en août 2005 au temple zen de la Gendronnière, dans le Loir-et-Cher (Association Zen Internationale).

Triomphe Saint Cyr 2011 - Cérémonie nocturne
/!\ A lire /!\ Vidéo produite par l'ESM Saint Cyr Coëtquidan. Le Triomphe des écoles de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan est une manifestation traditionnelle qui trouve son origine dans une visite du duc d'Orléans à Saint-Cyr le 27 juillet 1834. Aujourd'hui, il clôt la formation de tous les élèves officiers de l'armée de Terre. C'est également à cette occasion que les nouvelles promotions de l'Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr et de l'Ecole Militaire Interarmes reçoivent solennellement leur nom de baptême. Cette année, la promotion de l'ESM de Saint-Cyr a choisi le nom de « Chef de bataillon BULLE», Saint-Cyrien qui a combattu dans la Resistance et qui est mort pour la France à l'âge de 31 ans. Celle de l'EMIA portera le nom de « Général BIGEARD », qui a participé à tous les combats de l'armée française de la deuxième guerre mondiale à la guerre d'Algérie et qui est mort en 2010 à l'âge de 94 ans. Durant cette cérémonie ont lieu les passations de drapeau entre les promotions sortantes et les nouvelles promotions, notamment celles de l'Ecole d'Administration Militaire. Au cours de cette soirée, toutes les nouvelles promotions se voient remettre leurs galons d'officiers, notamment le 4e bataillon de l'Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr.
