CGRundertow BOMBERMAN LAND for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review

Bomberman Land review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Bomberman Land from Hudson Soft for the Nintendo Wii. Yes, Bomberman Land is a minigame collection. But as awful as those sometimes got on Wii, this particular one is like manna from minigame heaven. It's not often one of these games is worth playing alone, but this one comes close. You play as a Bomberman who's on vacation. There's a tournament up in the sky, he goes to participate, and minigames commence. The game is set up like a tournament, with the top players moving on to the next rounds. The advantage is that, because of the structure, the single player component works well. The drawback, on the other hand, is that the game isn't great for multiplayer. CGRundertow MARIO PARTY-e for Nintendo e-Reader Video Game Review

Mario Party-e review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Mario Party-e from Nintendo for the e-Reader attachment for the Game Boy Advance. Mario Party-e was sent to Classic Game Room by a kind viewer from Canada. Unfortunately, we don't have an e-Reader because no one has a freaking e-Reader. But thankfully, Mario Party-e can be played without one. Kind of. Watch Derek and TJ from Classic Game Room try to figure out this surprisingly complex card game and fail miserably at doing so. Mario, Luigi, Peach and the whole Mushroom Kingdom gang are here! But they're a lot more fun with controllers. CGRundertow METAL GEAR: GHOST BABEL for Game Boy Video Game Review

Metal Gear: Ghost Babel review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Metal Gear: Ghost Babel for Gameboy. With the high production level that has come to define the series, Metal Gear comes to the Gameboy and shows what is possible on the system. Although the story is considered non-canon, it is still interesting and will keep your attention. And even though this is on the Gameboy, Solid Snake can do everything you have come to expect from him. And all this is shown with visuals that really push the Gameboy. Put it all together and you have a true Metal Gear experience on the go. CGRundertow POKEMON WHITE VERSION for Nintendo DS Video Game Review

Pokémon White Version review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Pokémon White Version for Nintendo DS. Fifth verse, same as the first, only it's really not because most everything's changed since then. The graphics are worlds better, partially in 3D, exhibiting parallax and whatnot. The sound's fantastic, the new battle modes are a breath of fresh air, there's bridges everywhere (and I like bridges), there's plenty of new wi-fi connectivity, including a whole browser-based game where you can meet new Pokémon with interesting and different abilities, there's a Battle Subway (in case public transit wasn't dangerous enough)... I'm not gonna lie, I rewrote this script about five times or so. If you know where to look, and you want to look, you'll find some awesome stuff. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Call of Duty 4 for the Xbox 360. Released in 2007, this game was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. This is the first game in the Modern Warfare sub-series, giving us an introduction to Soap, Price, and several other characters. Gameplay in Call of Duty 4 has become the standard for first-person shooters, and the game still has a devoted following of players almost 5 years after the game's release. CGRundertow SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4: EPISODE 2 for PlayStation 3 Video Game Review

Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2, a downloadable game from SEGA on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation. Episode 2 continues where the first left off, attempting to revisit the glories of old for SEGA's speedy blue mascot, but with one key exception. Tails is by your side at all times in Episode 2, and sadly, he's more of a hindrance than improvement. Adding Tails into the game would be one thing, but forcing him into so much of the design is another. But tortunately, the game looks fantastic and also includes both online and offline multiplayer, which is awesome. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages for Gameboy. The Legend of Zelda is always considered one of the best games on whatever Nintendo system it appears on. This is continued with its release on the Gameboy Color. Link is once again on an adventure where he must travel to multiple dudgeon and collect items. The main item in this entry is the Harp of Ages, which takes Link back and forth between ages. Although working a part of a larger game with the Oracle of Season, this is a great stand alone game. CGRundertow WACKY RACES: CRASH & DASH for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review

Wacky Races: Crash & Dash review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Wacky Races: Crash & Dash from Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Games for the Nintendo Wii. Crash & Dash is a simple racer based on the animated series Wacky Races. It was a Hanna Barbara cartoon that only ran for one season, spawning 17 episodes from 1968 to 1969. Unfortunately, Crash & Dash is a kids game, which makes very little sense given the property. As much as we loved seeing the characters and vehicles, the stylish backgrounds and the cut scenes...the game beneath the presentation isn't as awesome. CGRundertow BEYOND THE BEYOND for PlayStation Video Game Review

Beyond The Beyond review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Beyond The Beyond for Sony Playstation. Games can sometimes be panned for not being innovative enough, while others do too much at once. How about a game that only changes a few things about a well-known and easy to pick up formula, without over stepping its bounds? That's what Camelot (The same company that brought us awesome games like Golden Sun and even Shining Force) produced in 1996 with Beyond The Beyond. While the graphics in the game look SNES era, the music is kind of unforgettable, and the random encounters are many, Beyond The Beyond did make a few small changes to a simple battle system and made a very underrated video game. It's a JRPG, so expect the normal stuff like breaking an annoying curse, saving your home kingdom from certain doom, and witness the deaths of the main characters friends. While a little cliché and made to be a very safe and comfy experience, Beyond The Beyond is a game that fans of Dragon Quest, Phantasy Star, and similar games will enjoy. Agent 47 is camped out on the roof with a rifle, a scope and a target. Shoot that one guy, mission complete. But in true Hitman fashion, Sniper Challenge isn't just about taking out the target. CGRundertow BURNOUT PARADISE for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Burnout Paradise review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Burnout Paradise from Criterion Games and Electronic Arts for the Xbox 360. Burnout Paradise was a pretty significant release from Criterion Games. Not only does it make fundamental changes to the Burnout design, but the game was groundbreaking from a technical perspective. From the graphics to the rock solid framerate to the sheer scope of it all, Burnout Paradise is an impressive video game. The game unleashes you in the massive Paradise City, and the freedom is pretty liberating. Worms review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Worms for XBox Live Arcade. The party staple from two console generagtions ago is back, baby. And it's got even more armaments. And I didn't think that was possible. It's Worms, the game where things that don't actually have limbs - or eyes, or cognition for that matter - now do, and they're using these precious gifts to blow each other up. Like ya do. Duck Hunt review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Duck Hunt for the Nintendo PlayChoice-10. Who shoots ducks with a revolver? Well, by a vote of 2-to-1, Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman settled on the design of the PC10's light gun, and so Duck Hunt just has to deal. It's just like playing Duck Hunt in your own living room... except the gun is heavier and feels much nicer in the hand than the big, plasticine Zapper. CGRundertow EMPIRE OF STEEL for Sega Mega Drive Video Game Review

Empire Of Steel review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Empire Of Steel from HOT B and Flying Edge for the SEGA Mega Drive. Released in 1992, Empire Of Steel is known in the United States as Steel Empire for the Genesis. The game was inspired by an 1819 novel of the same name, a instrumental in the development of steampunk. Empire Of Steel is a scrolling shooter with a beautiful steampunk look, and in 1992, that made it a pretty unique game. As a pilot in Silverhead, the last independent republic, it's your job to bring down the Motorhead Empire. But what makes Empire Of Steel stand out is its steampunk-inspired art. Bird Mania 3D review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Bird Mania 3D, a downloadable game from Teyon on the eShop for the Nintendo 3DS. Bird Mania 3D brings a little App Store to the eShop, and while the game is far from perfect, it could be a sign of things to come. You control a bluebird named Mojo who gets left behind by his friends when they migrate south. The game lets you use either the stylus or the Circle Pad to control Mojo, and after a few seconds, it's obvious that touch is the way to go. Dragging the stylus on the touch screen is both faster and smoother than using the Circle Pad. This is a very iOS styled game, only it's done better on the 3DS. CGRundertow SHIFTING WORLD for Nintendo 3DS Video Game Review

Shifting World review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Shifting World from Fishing Cactus and Aksys Games for the Nintendo 3DS. Shifting Worlds is a very stylish puzzle platformer based on a series of Flash games, the title of which is Shift. And when you consider the premise, that makes a lot of sense. You have to get to the exit, and do so, you're gonna have some pretty serious shifting to do. Specifically of the dimensional variety. The game is entirely black and white, and in addition to being a great style choice, it's also functional. You switch which of those colors represent the solid ground, and therein lies the gimmick. Move between the two colors to traverse complex levels and get the hell out of there. Unfortunately, a lot of problems hold the premise back. 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors for Nintendo DS. Ever see that movie "Cube?" With the team of seemingly-random people stuck in a huge box full of deathtraps and puzzles, and they have to survive by a combination of wits, fortitude, and the ability to subvert their natural paranoia? Well, think of all that, inject some Phoenix Wright to get the designs right, then put it all ON A BOAT. They're on a boat. CGRundertow LOST PLANET: EXTREME CONDITION for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Lost Planet for Xbox 360. Released in America in 2007, this game was developed and published by Capcom. This doesn't feel like a normal Capcom game; it has a Western vibe to it that is obviously welcome in the United States. This is a science-fiction themed third-person shooter that pits you and the rest of mankind against the inhabitants of your new home! Controls are excellent and although the game is five years old, it feels almost brand new. Kirby Super Star review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Kirby Super Star for Super NES. Sometimes known as Kirby Super Deluxe, sometimes known as Kirby Super Star Ultra (if you're playing the DS remake), it's eight times the pink puffballs, all in one! Whether you're excavating rare treasures, grabbing food on the run in the Gourmet Race, punching a hole through the planet, or just pretending you're in an Akira Kurosawa flick, there's always a smile on Kirby's face... possibly because this is the SFC version and they didn't add that scowl like they always do. CGRundertow JUST DANCE SUMMER PARTY for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review

Just Dance Summer Party review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Just Dance Summer Party from Ubisoft for the Nintendo Wii. Summer Party is a bit of a misnomer for this collection. It has little if anything to do with the summer, which upset Derek greatly. Just Dance Summer Party is dancing game featuring the 23 songs that were available as DLC for Just Dance 2. The setlist includes Rihanna, Katy Perry, Blur and Sweat Invaders...whoever they are. In this video review, Derek dances to these songs and wishes he were playing outside. CGRundertow BLUE DRAGON for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Blue Dragon review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Blue Dragon for XBox 360. Blue Dragon: The smashing-together of Akira Toriyama's art style (read: Just like Dragon Ball et. al.), Nobuo Uematsu's music, and Hironobu Sakaguchi's... erm... Final-Fantasy-ness. That's the primary feel I get from this game. It looks like it wants to be Dragon Quest, but it plays like a relaxed, innovative take on Final Fantasy without getting too deep into breaking molds. XII and XIII were kinda off the grid, but this feels... comfortable. Classic RPG fans will enjoy it and appreciate the innovation, without going, "This is beyond the pale!" And that's refreshing. Retro Game Challenge review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Retro Game Challenge for Nintendo DS. If you've never heard of Retro Game Master (or Game Center CX, as it's better-known), you need to know the Kacho. A man, a dream, a room, 13 hours or so, and an old, vicious video game that needs beaten for the enjoyment of the viewing audience. Unhappy with just his own TV show, Shinya Arino enters the digital realm to cause an entirely new form of trouble, and subject you to the very latest in retro video game design. Shining Scorpion review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow import review of Shining Scorpion for Super Famicom. I'd never heard of mini-4-wheel-drive vehicles, or the various circuits on which they race all slot-car-like, before playing this game. And then I found out that the care, maintenance, performance, weighting, and other tinkering of these cars is totally a Thing. And they even made a Super Famicom game about it! It's kinda RPG-ish, kinda Top Gear, and very, very detailed. Meticulous, in fact. I like that word. Meticulous. CGRundertow TRINE 2 for PlayStation 3 Video Game Review

Trine 2 review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Trine 2 for Playstation 3. A game that offers a lot of style and fun. You play as three different fantasy characters, a wizard, a knight and a thief. You move through the 2D levels, using each of the characters' unique abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies. The puzzles take center stage and are the main focus of the game. The game also has some very impressive visuals and a great art direction. All this makes for a game that you will return to often, either to experience more or to finally solve that last puzzle. Released with the launch of the 360 in 2005, this game was developed by Rare and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Kameo is one of the most unique action-platformers around, and although the story isn't anything special, the gameplay helps to make up for it. PixelJunk Shooter review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of PixelJunk Shooter for Playstation 3. The PixelJunk games just keep getting better and better. With the release of the latest game, the team at Q-Games goes into the shooter genre, but not with the same results that you would expect. Instead, the game is more about solving puzzles than destroying enemies. You will manipulate fluids to create a path, allowing you to rescue all the miners. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan for the GameCube. Released in 2005, this game was developed by Krome and published by Activision. Ty is back in the final game released in the series, this time mixing in some awesome robot gameplay to the boomerang action and platforming! The game's writing is also quite a bit funnier than earlier games, although the voice acting doesn't help it too much. In addition, the camera is still not up to par with other games on the system. CGRundertow COCKTAIL MANIA for iPhone Video Game Review

Cocktail Mania review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Cocktail Mania from Maysalward for the iPhone. Cocktail Mania is an iOS game that takes the simple route. Fruit fall from above, and the game tells you which one to tap. You have to tap as many of them as possible before the game changes the target fruit. Given the gameplay and the fruit, Cocktail Mania has some obvious similarities to Fruit Ninja...it's just not as good. You keep waiting for some clever hook or idea to come along and convince you to keep playing, but it never comes. CGRundertow BATTLESHIP for Nintendo 3DS Video Game Review

Battleship review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Battleship from Magic Pockets and Activision for the Nintendo 3DS. This game has no right to be any good. It's a video game based on a movie based on a board game, which sounds like the most terrible thing ever. And yet somehow, Battleship has avoided the wrath of the red pegs on the Nintendo 3DS. If you like strategy games like Advance Wars, this isn't a bad choice. You essentially control a fleet of ships—you might even call them battleships—on various waters as alien spacecraft attack. Each ship has its own movement and attack range, and when it's your turn, you move them wherever you'd like. CGRundertow NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHALLENGE! for PlayStation 3 Video Game Review

National Geographic Challenge! review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of National Geographic Challenge! for PlayStation 3. Not everything in life can have an awesome intro theme by Rockapella. I recognize this. The days of kids' game shows on PBS teaching a generation just where Croatia is has passed. So now we have some strange stock characters competing in a quiz that, frankly, would leave even Greg Lee out in the cold. Like he's in Greenland. Where there are a lot of Qs, apparently. CGRundertow FLIP'S TWISTED WORLD for Nintendo Wii Video Game Review

Flip's Twisted World review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Flip's Twisted World from Frozen North Productions and Majesco for the Nintendo Wii. Flip's Twisted World is a platformer that starts with a blueprint ripped straight from Super Mario Galaxy, but the game does add some new ideas. For example, you can rotate the entire game world around you like a Rubik's Cube. The levels are very linear, but they're also clever. They use the flipping gimmick to provide some interesting puzzles. But sadly, everything else falls apart, and the game's potential turns into outright failure. There's so much wrong with Flip's Twisted World from a technical standpoint, it's hard to know where to begin. Castlevania Chronicles review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Castlevania Chronicles for Playstation 1. Castlevania Chronicles sees Simon Belmont going to Castlevania to fight Count Dracula. The game has a great style, with updated visuals but still retaining the classic gameplay and difficulty. The game offers two ways to play, one which is just a port of the X68000 version and one which has enhanced visuals and a more forgiving difficulty. This is a great way to experience Castlevania. Enter the Matrix review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Enter the Matrix for the original Xbox. Released in 2003, this game was developed by Shiny and was published by Warner Bros. and Atari. The game is a sort of spin-off of The Matrix Reloaded, putting you in control of either Ghost or Niobe of the Logos ship. Although game gets the presentation and tone of the Matrix universe right, the gameplay is extremely rough. With a camera that routinely gets in your way instead of helping you, this is a good choice for only big fans of the Matrix movies. Atelier Rorona review.Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Atelier Rorona for PlayStation 3. So you take things from nature and put them in a vat, and stir it for a bit, and then you get pies and cannons and whatnot. It's alchemy. You don't have to explain it. What you do have to explain, though, is why you're doing fetch-quest after fetch-quest after innuendo after fetch-quest. Especially when there are RPGs in this vein that are better... well, RPGs. This one, like many games in the Atelier series, feels like it's... many games in the Atelier series. You gather items, pound them together into (marginally) useful crap, and blush.
