This is a cheap camera stabilizer useing nothing more than an Eyebolt and a few feet of string. A 1/4" coarse thread 20 TPI Eyebolt A piece of string about twice your height Simply tie the string in a loop running through the eye of the bolt. Standing on the string will help you hold your camera steady. Spreading the loop open will give you more stabilization. When your finished useing it just put it in your pocket. In this video I am talking about/reviewing my new camera which is a Logitech HD Webcam C270. You can see the quality for yourself (as I'm obviously using it to film the video!) I would really recommend this camera if you are looking for a good quality webcam but you don't want to spend much money. It's really simple to use, works well in low lighting conditions (unlike most low-cost webcams) and you can edit the videos in Windows Movie Maker (sorry mac users!). Here is some more video of my 9x20 lathe, this time turning a steel weight out of 1215 steel, a free machining steel. The weight is supposed to be exactly 1.5 ounces. Shown in this video is the profiling cut to get the outer diameter and radius correct. The g-code was as usual hand-coded, which is a bit of a pain once you get into circular interpolations and stepping up to them. I'd love to get my hands on some good cheap CAM software for my lathe, but don't really want to drop the $1k or more it takes to get it. Yet. For now it's good practice on my algebra and trig. This is the 2nd try on this particular part, the first try came out very close but there was a small ridge where the arc turned into a cylinder, presumably from taking the finishing pass on the cylinder before turning the arc. I fixed it by leaving 0.2mm on the cylinder, and finish turning the cylinder immediately after turning the arc. Special thanks to the EMC IRC guys for helping figure out how to program the arc.
