Here's my Part 1 NBA highlight video for April 2012. The footage comes from clips I've collected of the best plays from April 1 - 10. The video is full of incredible put back dunks and high flying alley oops performed by Iman Shumpert, JJ Hickson, Nick Collison, Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala, John Wall, Jan Vesely, Lou Amundson, Tyson Chandler, LeBron James, Eric Bledsoe, and Gerald Green. Of course, there are also amazing dunks, including facials and posterizations, by Blake Griffin, Byron Mullens, Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Kenneth Faried, Russell Westbrook, Thabo Sefolosha, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Andre Iguodala, Dwyane Wade, Eric Bledsoe, and Vince Carter. Kevin Durant had a rare off night (12 points, 4-for-11 shooting) but his teammates shot 53.2 percent and led all the way in a 107-97 win over the Phoenix Suns. Ricky Rubio of the Minnesota Timberwolves came into this NBA season as a highly anticipated player. From the start, the young point guard from Spain quickly impressed and excited fans all over the league with his dazzling plays and nifty, no look passes. Unfortunately, Ricky Rubio's 2011 - 2012 rookie season ended early with a torn ACL injury, caused by a collision with LA Laker Kobe Bryant. Here's my video highlighting Rubio's amazing first year in the NBA. It's full of all sorts of spectacular passes (no looks, bounce passes in between defenders' legs, half-court lobs to high-flying dunkers, etc.), as well as impressive layups and shots. I'm sure we'll see many more exciting plays just like these and better from Ricky Rubio for years to come. This is a throwback highlight I made for former Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears WR Sam Hurd of San Antonio Brackenridge HS (Class of 2003). As a senior in high school, Hurd led the state in receiving yards and TDs (20 in 10 games). Hurd continued his career at Northern Illinois University and was a playmaker. In his career at NIU he amassed 143 receptions (tied for fifth in school history), 2323 yards (second in school history) and 21 receiving touchdowns (third in school history). After college, Hurd was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. Against the Houston Texans in the 2006 season, Hurd recorded his first NFL reception on Tony Romo's first NFL pass (33 yards). Four weeks later, Hurd got his first start against the Arizona Cardinals recording four catches for 42 yards and also caught a touchdown pass that was negated due to offensive pass interference against Patrick Crayton. He ended the 2006 season with 5 catches for 75 yards and collected 11 tackles while also forcing 2 fumbles along with recovering 2 fumbles, while playing on special teams. After playing five years with the Cowboys, on July 29, 2011, he signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Bears. The Bears cut Hurd from the team on December 16, 2011 following his arrest on drug-related charges My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hurd family during this difficult time.

December 15, 2011. ***PLEASE NOTE***: Much of the wall on the south side of the building is a large "MURAL." In Grants Pass/Josephine County the 6 story Redwood Tower is our one and only high-rise and it's one of the most historic buildings in all of Southern Oregon. Right place, right time....AGAIN!! I was walking around just 2 blocks down the road when this call came out. I beat the first-in units by about 30 seconds! Call came in for a possible structure fire with a smell of smoke in the building. The building was evacuated and fire units did find a small fire on the 4th floor. This video is nice as it shows the units arriving on-scene and the firefighters going in. No real fire (Thank God!) but it's just a great video showing our tax-dollers at work :~)

This is the final of the eight features that make up the NFL Films Legacy Series, and may be the ulitmate lost treasure of NFL Films, as it documented the entire history of pro football, as it existed in 1983. It is also, to my knowledge, the first feature-length movie ever made by NFL Films. This part, the third of seven in this move documenting the history of the sport, focuses on the passing game. It's hosted by Bill Walsh, who was on his way to creating a dynasty in San Francisco, basically by using the passing game. The story begins in 1937, when George Preston Marshall, the owner of the Redskins, who had recently moved from Boston to Washington, brought in Sammy Baugh, the most accurate passer ever to play at that time, and all Baugh gave him was 16 years of great service, including two NFL championships in 1937 and '42. Through the clouds, the peninsula of Michigan can be seen, with Chicago brightly lit at the south end of Lake Michigan.
