But that's exactly what the 32 year-old comedian will be doing during the Discovery channel's celebrated 24th annual "Shark Week" debuting July 31, 2011. Samberg's title of Chief Shark Officer required him to bite off more than he could chew -- including a stunt where he fell backwards into shark-infested waters from a desk. "The pitch was that I would get to fly to the Bahamas and literally swim with sharks, and I was thinking there's no way I would ever have the balls do do that on my own, so I went for it." He admits falling backwards blindly into sharks, even if they're gentle Caribbean reef sharks, scared him. "But I had to just kind of ignore it. I went into Braveheart mode," Samberg told Entertainment Weekly in their June 17 issue. Since it's premiere in 1987, "Shark Week" has become cable's longest-running, and one of its most highly watched, events -- averaging over 20 million viewers each summer. This year, Chief Shark Officer Andy Samberg hosts the greatest week on television, including seven brand-new shark shows, and The Living Planet Aquarium has some amazing shark events planned for the entire week! "During Shark Week, the education department will be reintroducing our visitors to these amazing animals, many of which have declining populations." Says Carolyn Adler, Onsite Programs Manager. "We want to focus on the perception most people have about sharks and debunk the myth that all sharks are man-eating predators. In 2008, for example, there were 59 unprovoked shark attacks on humans worldwide and few were fatal. An average of 62 people are killed by lightning in the US each year, while fewer than 5 are killed by sharks worldwide. The Living Planet Aquarium, located in Sandy, houses eight species of sharks, six species of which are housed in a 15000 gallon tank including two nurse sharks, two leopard sharks, one white-tip reef shark, one ornate wobbegong, one brown-banded bamboo shark and one white-spotted bamboo shark. Martin Brody is the new police chief of Amity, an island resort town somewhere in New England aka (Massachusetts). He has a wife named Ellen, and two sons named Michael and Sean. On a Summer morning, Brody is called to the beach, where the mangled body of Summer vacationer Chrissie Watkins has washed ashore. The medical examiner tells Brody that it could have been a shark that killed Watkins. Mayor Larry Vaughn, who is desperate to not lose the money that will be brought in by 4th of July tourists, wants Brody to say Watkins's death was caused by a motorboat propeller instead of a shark, because the thought of a shark in Amity's waters would drive tourists away from Amity. It looks like Vaughn is a mayor who puts money ahead of people's lives. Shark expert Matt Hooper believes Watkins was killed by a shark. Hooper is proven right a few days later, when Alex Kintner is killed by the shark that killed Watkins. Looking for the quickest solution, Vaughn tells all of the local fishermen to let him know if they see the shark. A shark hunter named Quint offers to find the shark and kill it but for a price $10000, but Vaughn thinks Quint's price of $10000 is too high.
