"Myname is Randy RC Connor, choreographer to the stars. I've worked with Britney Spears, P. Diddy Combs, Prince, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z. We're gonna just break down some moves, that you can use at the club, at the parties, at home, in your bathroom -- just have fun guys, so let's get started. C'mon! The first thing, I think, with getting into hip-hop choreography is first and foremost, is to believe in yourself. Then after that, I would say, start working on your materials. Start developing your material. Start working. Start training yourself. You know, just really focus in on you and your ability, your style and your choreography. Then I would suggest that you take classes - you start going into environments where there's other dancers and choreographers who are actively engaged in the business. There's quite a few places, just do your research. Whatever city you're in, just try to surround yourself with, with that type of energy and environment. Stay focused, and just believe in yourself. Keep striving, keep working on your material, and just never stop. Put yourself out there, and, you know, if there's any local artists in town, you know, sometimes you gotta do what's called 'promotional gigs'. In my day and time, you know, we did a lot of freebies, you know. It wasn't as competitive as it is now, but if there's an opportunity, just do it. It's not always about the money. Whatever opportunities that there are, whether it's a local artist in your town, and ...

New to the Dutch National Ballet is the Frenchman Benjamin Millepied, whose loose, free movement idiom and talent for working with large groups of dancers have made him into one of today's most striking young choreographers. He has previously created work for New York City Ballet (where he is also a principal dancer), the Paris Opera Ballet and the ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov. He also made the choreography for Black Swan, the latest film by Golden Lion winner Darren Aronofsky. The music for Millepied's new creation will be written by Nico Muhly, who was dubbed America's 'hottest composer' at his recent performance in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In this generation of dance it is easy to fall into only using youtube and television shows as their source of inspiration. The goal of CPR is to "Challenge, Progress, Refresh" through themselves and to encourage choreographers to be self dependent on their own talent and creativity. In total there are 10 choreographers that are being put to the test. Each choreographer was challenged to create a piece that truly 100% represents them. Everything from the roster, to the music, and the costumes were the decision of each of the choreographers. After the entire process of selecting dancers, music, props, and creating their pieces, these 10 choreographers will bring it all out of rehearsal and on to the stage. They have all only been given 3 weeks notice to prepare. The twist to all of this is it's not only a show...it's a friendly competition between all of the choreographers. The audience will vote on their top two favorite pieces, then the top two are announced after intermission. Those two numbers will perform again going head to head for the title as the 1st CPR winner in DREAM ...

Next up for the Choreographer Series is a DC2 Dance Battle with @euthanasian to "Meddle" by Little Boots on Hard for Dance Central 2 and Xbox 360 Kinect, choreographed by Marcos Aguirre! Choreographer: Marcos Aguirre (@mea5678) My Favorite Thing About This Track: Great track and really complementary choreography! What can we say about Marcos' choreography that hasn't already been said? As one of the Harmonix's lead choreographers (along with Frenchy Hernandez), he's done the lion's share of choreography in Dance Central, and by now we've done enough of his routines that we're able to point out the tracks he's done just by looking a few moves. He's behind some of the more memorable routines in DC2 like "Toxic", "Bad Romance", and one of my favorites, "Nothin' On You". All the DC choreographers--Marcos and Frenchy in particular--have helped shaped Dance Central to what it is today. Thank you all for putting the soul into the machinery! And a huge thank you to Harmonix for taking my two favorite things: gaming and dancing, and merging them without compromising either! I'm trying out a new product on my channel that I'm tentatively calling my Choreographer Series! Brilliant suggestions from @euthanasian and Harmonix's @mattboch led to this concept, where not only do we get to highlight a few of Dance Central's unsung masters, but we get to show off how much fun Dance Battling really is! Hope you guys like it! I'm on Twitter! (www.twitter.com/RiffraffDC) Follow me for updates ...

facebook.com twitter.com dancers are dea sevilla(choreo cookies) and nic ballecer(tru definition) the song is jason mraz butterfly Speaking of music, people often ask me the question of how, or why, i choreograph to the music i do. i learned this from Mari, but honestly no one should feel restricted to what song they should choreograph to. It doesn't have to be "hip hop" or whatever the stereotype is. Because not many choreographers styles are authentically hip hop anymore(including myself). It's something different now. Which is dope because it evolves! It's like a hip hop/jazz/contemporary fusion. ha anyway what I'm trying to say is choreograph or just dance to music that you flat out love. Because that can be a huge part of your personality as a dancer/choreographer. i hope that helped somebody and i didnt just sound like i was rambling. ok im done. sorry to anyone who hates reading! enjoy, God bless

The Dance Central 2 Choreographer Series with @RiffraffDC and @euthanasian sets the carpet on fire with a dance battle to "Fire Burning" on Hard for Dance Central 2 and Xbox 360 Kinect, choreographed by Frenchy Hernandez (@msfrenchkiss13). Summed Up: Frenchy's sassy, hard-hitting choreography is only barely revealed in this routine, but she's clearly got the skill and talent to produce really memorable dances. "Fire Burning" was probably not the best choice to open the discussion for Frenchy's choreography for Dance Central, primarily because she's done WAY more interesting routines for tracks like "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Turnin' Me On". That said, this song is fun in its accessibility, but it features an excess of "mirrored" moves (basically choreo that is done to the right and then to the left), which ultimately means it can get boring very, very quickly. As a choreographer, Frenchy's work brings to mind words like sassy, strong, and cool, as contrasted with Marcos's choreography which tends to be more sexy and flirty. To this day both "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Turnin' Me On" remain on my favorite routines list, and that's primarily because both display very clear themes in their choreography with little evidence of ever being watered or toned down for the sake of either the technology or the difficulty level. I tend to rate a DC choreographer's work based on how much their routines would appeal to me if I walked into a class after paying $15 at the door and ...

It is organised since 2005 to give dancers from Nederlands Dans Theater with a clear talent for choreography the opportunity to learn and grow as a choreographer. Dancers like Lukas Timulak and Medhi Walerski proved last season where this all can lead to: their made their official debut as choreographers and will be making new work for the season 2008|2009. In UpComing Choreographers 2008 Maurice Causey (repetitor), Ivan Perez and Fernando Hernando Magadan (both dancers Nederlands Dans Theater I) were chosen to make new work. Causey made Mood Swings, Perez created Washing Machine and Hernando Magadan made Evergreen. For more information see: www.nederlandsdanstheater.nl
