In September 2010, SBS Transit announced the purchase of 300 Citaro units while SMB136C was still on its one-year trial. The SBS Transit Citaros first began revenue service on Route 28 on 1 June 2011, and they now represent the spiritual replacement of the older O405s which were fully retired just days before. The modular nature of the Citaro meant that production orders for both SBS Transit and SMRT Buses were rolled out from the same factory and to a degree share common features, such as the bodywork and the driver's dashboard. SBS Transit units also received the 6374cc OM906hLA engine, but opted for the Voith DIWA 854.5 4-gear automatic transmission and Lawo HighLED EDS (with Luminator USA ODK 4). Both operators have also customized their interior fixtures to a certain extent in order to blend in with their existing WAB fleet and corporate identity.

SBS Transit's next batch of single-deck buses will crank up the comfort level several notches - thanks to a completely stepless aisle. Known as a through low-floor bus, the aisle of the Mercedes Citaro is flushed flat from the front of the bus to the back . This makes it especially friendly to elderly passengers who no longer need to climb steps to reach the back of other low-floor models currently on the road. The 300 Citaros, which have won several international awards including the "2007 Bus of the Year" and the "Best Commercial Vehicles of 2010", will also have more than 10 priority seats which will be easily accessible by the elderly and the handicapped. SBS Transit will pay $110 million for the 300 Citaros. Together with another 300 new double-deck buses from Volvo, they are scheduled to hit our local roads over the next two years starting from 2011. The latest bus purchase of $268 million brings SBS Transit's total investment in new buses over the last five years to $854 million. It will lower the age of our existing buses from nine years to seven years. SBS Transit Chief Executive Officer, Mr Gan Juay Kiat, said: "We are excited about our latest bus purchase. The saloon layout of the new single-deck through low-floor buses is more commuter-friendly." A 30 mins journey on the free IKEA Shuttle bus from Boon Lay to Jurong East and to IKEA Alexandra. This was the last trip for passengers going to IKEA from Boon Lay or Jurong East and the second last trip for the bus. This time round, instead of a O405 Mercedes Benz Hispano, a Citaro was ply on it, on 21 Aug 2011.

This is one of Arriva Merseysides newest Additions. Instead of the Wright Commanders on the 501 the new Mercades Citaro Bendybuses are now up for the Job. I have to say they are a little long for Liverpool South Parkway But still they do look very good. Hopefully they dont cause too many accidents.
Mercedes-Benz O530 Citaro - SBS Transit Service 138
In a way, the introduction of the Mercedes Benz Citaro on the SBS Transit represent the spiritual successor to the venerable O405 fleet that it has previously operated. Weeks after the retirement of the O405 buses that operated between Ang Mo Kio - Yio Chu Kang - Singapore Zoo (Mandai Lake Rd), Mercedes buses are now back on this mainly tourist route. As you would have noticed, one major difference SBST Citaros have is the use of the Voith DIWA 854.5 4-gear automatic transmission instead of the ZF Ecomat adopted by SMRT Buses. SBS Transit Mercedes Benz O530 Citaro
Following the purchase of Citaros by SMRT, SBS Transit followed suit with an order of 300 units of the world-renowned bus. As of end May 2011, about 17 of them have already been registered in Singapore and are awaiting service. The first unit registered, SBS6000L, was released onto passenger service on 1 June 2011 on Service 28. This route plies between Toa Payoh to Tampines via Paya Lebar and Bedok Resevoir Road. The SBS Transit variants, apart from it's SMRT counterparts, are fitted with Voith DIWA 4-speed gearboxes. SMRT Citaros uses a ZF 6-speed gearbox. However, both variants retain the same Mercedes OM906hLA 6 litre engine.
