John Carter of Mars Animation (Rare) Bob Clampett

Back in the 1940's, animation director Bob Clampett (director of Bugs Bunny and creator of Beany and Cecil) proposed a series of animated theatrical shorts adapting the John Carter of Mars books by Edgar Rice Burroughs (creator of Tarzan). This footage was the test reel for the studios. Apparently one major hollywood studio was interested in producing these shorts, but changed their mind when they thought the concept might be to weird for some people. It's to bad they never got made. Who knows what direction animation might have taken if they had.

Doris Packer (May 30, 1904 -- March 31, 1979) was an American actress, possibly best known as Mrs. Cornelia Rayburn, Theodore Cleaver's principal in Leave It to Beaver. She also portrayed the mother of millionaire playboy Chatsworth Osborne, Jr. (Steven Franken), on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Prior to playing Chatsworth's mother, she played Clarice Armitage, mother of Milton Armitage (Warren Beatty), whose character Chatsworth replaced. Packer was born in Menominee in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Her family moved to southern California when she was quite young. She became interested in acting while in high school. After attending the University of California at Los Angeles, she moved to New York City to study under noted drama teacher Evelyn Thomas. Packer appeared in many Broadway shows. In 1954, she appeared as Florence on an episode ("Sixteen Vertical") of Rod Cameron's crime drama series, City Detective. In 1955-1956, Packer appeared three times as a nurse in the NBC sitcom It's a Great Life, featuring Frances Bavier. In 1958, she guest-starred in 1958 on Rod Cameron's subsequent syndicated series, State Trooper, in "The Last Stage Robbery" episode. She played wealthy society matrons on The Burns and Allen Show and I Love Lucy. She had a recurring role as Clara Mason in the 1960-1961 NBC trivial ...

A Tale of Two Kitties

Babbit and Catstello try to catch little Tweety Bird. Tale of Two Kitties is an American cartoon, released in 1942, notable for introducing the character Tweety Bird. It was directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster, and features music by Carl W. Stalling. It was also the first appearance of Babbit and Catstello, based on the popular comedy duo Abbott and Costello. The title is an obvious pun on the Charles Dickens classic, A Tale of Two Cities, but there is no other connection between the two "Tales". The Ballad of Jed Clampett

This is the Ballad of Jed Clampett, the well known theme of the world famous television series and movie "The Beverly Hillbillies". Finally had the time to go out in the backyard and shoot this video! This here is the full song, with singing and all (sorry!) and even the funny remarks about the hillbilly family in between! It's a fun tune to pick, fun to sing and a certain hit in a barbecue or pig pickin'!!! Everybody knows and love this tune. Here, as a novice, I made a few minor mistakes, but overall, I'm satisfied with it, so I wrapped it up and decided to upload. I always love to upload videos here and share it with my friends. There's a certain excitement about it, it's a nice feeling to do so. If you just got started on the banjo, or any other instrument for that matter, I would strongly suggest you to start an account here, if you don't already have one, and upload the little songs you will be learning. Besides of listening to your own mistakes, and later on watch it as a proof of your own improvement (watch my first Cripple Creek song, recorded two years ago, and compare it to this one!), it will also give you motivation to keep on going. To top it off, there's a lot of expert banjo players here and they always give you good advice. Don't be alarmed by critics, as long as they are not offensive, but rather constructive, they will help you to improve your techniques. And most of all, remember this: if you ain't gettin' paid for it, or making a living on your banjo ...

The Beverly Hillbillies - The Clampett Look

The series is about a poor backwoods family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land. A Filmways production created by writer Paul Henning, it is the first in a genre of "fish out of water" themed television shows, and was followed by other Henning inspired country-cousin series on CBS. In 1963, Henning introduced "Petticoat Junction" and in 1965 he reversed the rags to riches model for Green Acres. The show paved the way for later culture-conflict programs such as McCloud, The Nanny, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Doc. Panned by many entertainment critics of its time, it quickly became a huge ratings success for most of its nine-year run on CBS. The Beverly Hillbillies ranked among the top twelve most watched series on television for seven of its nine seasons, twice ranking as the number one series of the year, with a number of episodes that remain among the most watched television episodes of all time. It originally aired on Cartoon Network and was later added to Adult Swim programming block due to the films being shown uncut, but only aired for a short time. Twenty-six episodes were made in all. I haven't played the banjo & mandolin much in the last 10 years so I thought I'd have some fun with this song to see if I had anything left. This was fun.
